My BF Anniversary
Today is the anniversary of my BikeForums career. Yay!
I had been a member of "Bicycle Forums" which folded in mid-2001. After free-floating the cyber world for a few months I came across this site where the refugees from the old forum had begun swimming ashore. Membership was much lower then, but it was a lively bunch and I was glad to become part of it.
Many of us "senior" types hung around the Road, General, Touring, etc, forums until the 50+ forum was born around ~'03.
I am forever grateful to Joe Gardner for starting BikeForums, and to DnvrFox for creating the 50+ group.

To Louis, who has always been quick with a witty and kind response, and to all of you who are rightfully jostling in the same queue for the same appreciation....
May the coming year be kind to you, and distribute white bicycles according to your deservedness.
(Oops, did I say something wrong towards the end there??)

Good post Louis! Wow-I didn't realize the forum was relatively new when I joined.
I've thoroughly enjoyed personally meeting several of the fine folks that participate here via various venues.

You went and made me nostalgic. Who would have guess on New Year's Day? I started bike commuting in 2000, and was hooked on both Bike Forums and Bicycle Forums. Both helped me learn to be a year-round commuter. Now I find my self checking into Fiftyplus first thing when I log on. Happy New Year to everyone.

JBS - Yup, I was waxing nostalgic when I started this thread.
jppe - I believe Joe launched BF around ~'99. 50+ was an idea that DnvrFox had a few years later.
wog - Thanks for the kind words.

A salute to the folks who keep this forum going. I hung out at the forum of a certain popular cycling magazine, (I won't name it, but you all probably know it.) before coming across this place. This is much better.

I joined in Feb. 2003 after being fed up with my year or two on Bicycling.coms forums.
I'm glad I found this site. Better features, better people, and managed much better too.
Hats off to all the good work done here. And Happy Anniversary, Louis!
PS - I'm not 50 until June and I've been lurking. Even made a couple of posts. Couldn't wait.

Louis, so, you're an old timer on the old timer forum? Happy anniversary... and many more.
