Long term Goal

Not a member here yet.Got two and a half years to go.
Have started riding again last year (after20years) 1000 miles and went from 260lbs to 235.
Hope to ride 5000 more miles by age 50. Get under200lbs and ride a century.
If i reach the goal , treat myself to a new ride at that time.
Sorry if this is the wrong forum. Could not think of a better one.
Had to write this down.

This is where someone usually comes on to say you young people are welcome as long as you bring pie. If you're trying to lose weight, you might want to avoid the pie, however.
Good job on riding and just keep having fun and you will stick to it.

Keep up the good work. The Clydesdale forum is great for weight related issues and the Road forum for road specific questions. You need a good flak jacket in the latter though. Then again, you're from Jersey, you can take it!! :)

Welcome.

Good point! Bring pie, don't eat any of it yourself.

Update:
I did join now at the end of July this year.
Road about 7000 miles. Mostly together with a great group of friends.
Three century's.
Thanks to riding, turned fifty being healthier than i have been the last fifteen years.
Got the opportunity to acquire my dream bike, a Seven Elium SLX.
Only two misses!
Still over 200 lbs but getting close and got cake instead of pie for my birthday. Luckily Pumpkin pie is just around the corner.

I can't find a thread I read yesterday and you've managed to resurrect the note on the refrigerator you put here two and a half years ago. I'm impressed. Also, congratulations achieving so many goals in such a short time.

So a long time lurker has joined the Elite group we have here but you did it all wrong. 2 1/2 years ago you should have got a Mountain bike or a BMX to learn the skills necessary to ride the recumbent you should have got instead of the "Seven":innocent:. Still never mind-You will learn the other skills required on this forum quick enough. Don't know how much training you have done but Pie Ride next saturday. Too late to work to the ultimate of Blueberry but being a condescending lot- we won't put you down if you can only manage apple with Ice cream.

Welcome but pics of the new bike required. You have admitted you got one and no pics posted yet.

Here are some pics of the bike.http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=272076http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=272077http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=272078
In regards to the recumbent,i hope to have a few more years riding hard till it "hurts".
Sprinkling in some rides with my daughter on her cruiser and my son on the mountain bike brings the right balance.
The cruiser has a basket. Perfect to bring along pie for the mid ride break.
For me the enjoyment is time on the bike, bee it cruising at 8 mph or in a pace line at times hitting 30mph.

Glad to see you have the proper color garage door, and that you shot the pics from the drivetrain side. You're well on your way. Now just repeat after me: "Get off my lawn!"

Does the wind whistle when it goes through those brake calipers?

Glad you got your dream bike. But you know it's going to annoy everyone. The "steel is real" crowd won't like it. The carbon crowd will wonder why you mucked it up with the ti. And, the ti crowd will wonder why you mucked it up with the carbon. ;)

BUT, the important thing is that you like it enough to have put some serious miles on it.

To be able to acquire this bike was more by accident. Never heard of SEVEN before myself.
While looking at a project for a long time client of mine he asked me if i was possible open to a trade.
He went to his garage and came back with his custom built SEVEN. I instantly liked the workmanship of the Ti lugs.
He suggested i take it home and try it out. He has a new LOOK 695.
Since i am myself in the business of hands on custom products i always had the dream of someday having a custom built bike.
This bike has a much more convertible ride in comparison to the harsh ride of the Schwinn fastback limited 2001 i rode the last couple years.
Most important the bike fits perfect .
Rode a century with it a couple weeks ago and felt like i could go on for another 20-30 miles at the end . Quite a difference from getting beat up on the Schwinn.
It's more bike than i ever dreamed of.
To cover all the frame materials i plane to keep the Alu bike as a winter ride and still have my steel 85 CILO . Many years down the road i'll get a Bamboo walking stick to cover that too!
