I thought I might as well jump in this thread after reading some of your posts. I'm currently riding nothing as I just had a knee replacement after 2 previous surgeries. The last 2 weeks have been hell trying to reduce the pain with meds and ice.
I currently have a Lynskey GR300 Gravel bike that is my primary bike. I don't do much gravel riding but it's a great bike for the trails that have sand and crap on them and I travel a lot so I have the versatility to ride paved and gravel trails. I also have a Specialized Crossroads that will be my rehab bike when I'm up to it.
I do not take supplements but I'm on insulin as I'm a type 1 diabetic.
I also take a lot of meds for rheumatoid arthritis plus Infusion treatments
I have certainly slowed down recently because of the knee issues but I did 68 miles on my 67th birthday in August and that was a goal that I was proud to achieve.
I have biked on and off for most of my life but missed a lot of years due to work, raising a family, etc, I'm sure most of you get it.
I try to do 30 - 40 mile rides several times a week and most of it is on paved trails. I would love to do the ride across Florida so that will be my next goal.
This looks like a good thread and I will enjoy following it. Happy riding everyone, boomer.
I never try to compete with anyone as far as speed and times go, I just enjoy riding at my pace and going where I want my bike to take me.
