Your bucket list.
What in on your bucket list as far as cycling is concerned.
I will start with One the I just crossed off my list. A new Felt AR4 / SL Premium Wheels. To loose the 10 lbs. I gained while recuperating for the last 109 days. A bike tour of Italy, A bike tour of Spain At least one century a year To spend another summer in the Lake Placid area. (great biking area) To do a Triathlon. (This means I have to learn how to swim) |
Two mastyr duh anglige langige, or sumpmit.
To ride backwards for at least a block. Do wheelies for blocks like I did as a kid. A lot more stuff. |
I'd love to try L'Etape some day.
The one man made wonder that has mesmorized me is the Taj Mahal. My wife wants to do an overseas cruise. We've been to Europe several times: three times to Giurgiu, and twice to Kyiv (not a shabby place) and Simferopal. Also one side trip to Yalta which I would have enjoyed had I not passed out from fear at the taxi driver's driving. Language tip: never say "ya ni stratchni" when a Ukrainian taxi driver asked if you want him to slow down because you're getting nervous. But I digress. |
I have been fortunate. I have done a lot and seen a lot all over the world, met some of the most influencial people of my time and don't want for anything. Maybe some time spent on the road back to spend with the kids when they were young but bucket lists don't include time machines.
I have no list and if I went tomorrow, would have no regrets. |
A) Take a week-long bicycle tour in the Netherlands.
B) Go mountain biking in Utah; a cabin-to-cabin type of adventure. C) Retire and ride a few non-metric centuries each year. |

My bucket list?
I would like to get a bucket for my lists!! (I think we just had this thread, and I didn't have a bucket for that thread, either!!) |
I tried this a while back. One thing on my list was to ride mountain bikes with Bush 43, which some folks do from time to time in the Dallas area. The liberal hate messages started pouring in.
I'll give this one a miss. |

My 'Bucket List' had items like :
*Ride the eight day Erie Canal tour trailering my gear in the B.O.B. *Ride the KATY Trail *Explore Wisconsons Rail Trails *Attend the Midwest Recumbent Rally I had intended to do these as a retiree. It was a nice wish list but I'm changing my dreams now. Due to recent life events I'll now be limiting my cycling to local rides of much shorter durations. Down but not out, I have already started building some new dreams. I think I would like to take a bike with me whenever we drive out to visit the daughters, so with a bit of planning I can start a fresh Bucket with some local rides in their cities! One lives in L.A. and another is going to live in Chicago and the third has yet to be determined. O.K., New Bucket : *Ride the T.E. along the Strand in L.A. *Ride the T.E. along the Lake Michigan Shoreline in Chicago from Wrigleyville to Navy Pier and back. |
My 100th birthday ride.

My list would include activities beyond biking.

I'd like to find the time to ride gravity bikes and trials bikes.
I'd like to do some long credit card touring. I'd like to arrive at the end of every trip I start out on. I'd like to do that downhill ride in Hawaii. I'd like to work to see better bicycle facilities all over America. |
Pilot a P-51
|
The Great Divide Mountain Bike Ride north to south.
|
The Maah Daah Hey.
Ride across Scotland. Yeah, the Great Divide Ride sounds good, too. Alpe d'Huez & Mont Ventoux. Beech Mountain. 90 minutes on my 90th. At least PART of Le Route Vert. |
Back when I was a kid (sometime in the early 70's) I made a list (no "bucket" back then) of rides I wanted to do before I die based on a list of famous rides in some long lost issue of Bicycling! magazine.
RAGBRAI TOSRV Davis Double Seattle to Portland Assault on Mt. Mitchell Paris-Brest-Paris Hotter-N-Hell Hundred Now I've done all except the last one, Hotter-N-Hell, which I've just signed up for, so yes, some lists take awhile to complete! Since I've done the Death Ride (2006), my new list includes Triple-By-Pass and Everest Challenge. All kinds of fun! Rick / OCRR |
In 8 days I will be able to cross one off my list. I am going to run my first marathon. When I finish I will be back to biking for the summer.
|
I see a bucket list as things that can be acheived before I die...
Have a custom bike built (I will soon be crossing this off the list) Do RAGBRAI - I have been thinking of doing this for 20 years... someday Follow the Tour de France - in France! Ride some the great rails-to-trails in the USA tour Vermont mountain bike in British Columbia - a real dream - more important that RAGBRAI visit Yellowstone again bike, hike or car - no matter find the perfect place to retire - hopefully cycle touring the USA will accomplish that goal! |

The Adirondacks are certainly a great biking area but bring your climbing bike. The Lake Placid area has some mighty steeps. I will be climbing Whiteface this summer. http://www.whitefacerace.com/bikeraceinfo.html

Ah come on! TOUR D'AFRIQUE. What an experience and photo opportunity. And you get to do something good for some of the local communities. Somebody's son from the forum is riding in it. Should make it to Capetown soon.
