Greetings from another 50+
:thumb:
I used to bike a lot but for the last few years the old bike has set idle. I just finished with my tear down and grease up and I'm ready to ride. |
Go for it. Welcome. I think most cyclists here took up or resumed cycling later in life. I'm 57 and took up cycling 4 years ago. I still get dropped by joggers pushing those dang baby strollers. It's all good.

Re-grease is good- but make certain you get the knees lubricated aswell.
And the neck And the back and anything else that may cause a problem. |
Welcome, post picture of bike. We like pictures here. :thumb:

Welcome CrownEE, I was raised in Northern Indiana, but moved south many years ago. I still have relatives in Kokomo.
Glad to have you on the forum, but we need way more information. Here is a good starter list for you. 1.What kind of bike do you have? 2. What color is it? 3.What kind of pie do you like? 4. Have you had a colonoscopy recently? Seriously we don't have any requirement's. When I started reading this forum it really helped increase my biking knowledge and skills. It also caused me to buy a couple of extra bikes, but that is part of the fun. |
Wecome CrownEE,
Yes, cycling is important on this forum, but pie is equally important, maybe more important to some. I do some riding and working on bikes myself, but right now I'm thinking about the strawberry pie that my wife left in the fridge before she flew out of town on business. It must be my responsibility to finish that pie before she gets back. Plus, I have a century tomorrow with over 9,000 feet of climbing, so that should burn most of it off. Rick / OCRR |
Let us know how the first few rides go.
:welcome |

What a bunch of wild and crazy people !
100 miles with 9000 feet climb? Now that is crazy (read that as "I'm envious"). I lubed up the knees by going through the C25K program and decided to pick up the bike to do some cross training. I used to ride a lot but had some knee problems. I hope that if I start up slowly, I can avoid these issues. Went out for a short half hour ride and all went well. Even the old Puch did well, other than a squeaky rear brake that I need to take care of. I'll post a pic of the old bike. It has served me well for many miles. |
Welcome to the club CrownEE. Enjoy the ride.

I'll write a short report in it's own thread. Here's a photo of some old guy (me) climbing to Onyx Summit at 8,440 feet. http://www.ocwtraining.org/BearPictu...lSize/0027.jpg Rick / OCRR |
Welcome! Sorry I'm so late to chime in but I was off riding my bike:thumb:

CrownEE: a word of advice: don't go with tubulars. Trust us on that one.
|
CrownEE,
Welcome! Now you've stepped in it! Joking of course, but only slightly. I think you will find this is a wild and crazy bunch. Jeff, still fat |
