There's always something special...
.....about the first century of the season. I don't know if it's the drive to surmount that number on the odometer, the bragging rights, or just the gratification of knowing that the old engine can still churn out 100+ miles in a single day.
I didn't break any speed records, but then I never do, but I did ride my first century of the season today. Over the past several days I've been servicing some of the bikes and the Tour Easy recieved a new chain and a thorough cleaning. The rings and cassette are glistenly clean and all the paint and brightwork is washed and waxed. Here she sits in all her radiant glory.... http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r...G_3517A580.jpg ...not too bad for a two owner, ten year old machine. Well now, one simply can not leave a nice shiny bike just sitting in the garage now can they? That's right! So early this morning I climbed in and off we went. It was just a ride, nothing spectacular, barely worth mentioning...except that it proved to this old guy that he could still ride that magic number! It doesn't seem right not to post a photojournal type report but, believe it or not I was not very photographicaly inspired today. Sorry (or lucky you, depending on your perspective I guess). I did however take a picture of this Beaver dam right alongside the Lake Ontario State Parkway. http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r...G_3526A580.jpg Kinda cool, huh? I spotted it from the Eastbound lane just about 1/2 mile west of Payne Beach Road. That's it. I rode. I conquered. I need a beer! |
