RtR Day 1

Got an early start and did the 50 mile Colorado Monument loop. Temps were perfect (50's) for climbing and chilly for the descent. I was back in my hotel room before the maids had cleaned it.

The bike had arrived and it only took 15 mins to reassemble it. I thought I had packed a spare tire but it was not in the box.

This is an incredible event. They obviously have gone to great lengths for rider safety and convenience. The sag stops appear to be mini carnivals. Ride volunteers abound.

Tomorrow is 90+ miles and includes what looks to be a 5000 ft climb over Grand Mesa. I'll start camping tomorrow night. Hoping for dry weather for several days.

You had great conditions for the Monument Loop in June. Enjoy the ride over the Grand Mesa tomorrow. It could be chilly on top!

As much as I enjoyed the 50+ Forum Ride Weekend this weekend, I'm deeply jealous of you riding the Monument. I so want to return to CO and ride that someday.

Nice! Perfect weather for a climb over the Grand Mesa. I'm sure jppe will be done with his ride long before any of these storms happen. The dude is fast!

Have a great ride. 50's? doesn't water freeze at that temperature? I'm looking at about 100 for my ride after work today. I don't even want to know what the heat index is.
