Compression shorts, arm warmers, etc..........?

Noticed that Graeme over at CycloCore was touting the recovery benefits (aids circulation) of compression shorts, socks, etc. Anyone have any experience with compression clothing (not just dedicated, padded cycling shorts) ?

I like the socks.

Anyone who uses Under Armour would most likely run into their compression type clothing, wicking. I wear their tops, long sleeve mostly, the heavier winter one with the fleecing inside. Does it aid in circulation? I think that's debatable. There's active recovery methods and passive. The compression things are passive. I also have the Zoots type compression tights. But I use that as a dual purpose thing: winter riding to keep warm plus maybe, compression benefits. Compression socks have been around for years, named as support hose. You can find these hose at any CVS pharmacy on the shelf.

When renewable energy sources get advanced, then we'll see a lot of active recovery methods. But now, its mostly passive.

I use the Skins compression socks for a few hours after long rides and find that my kegs ache less the next day.

I have been using Skins for the last year. I wear the after riding especially after harder efforts or longer rides. At the stage races I did earlier this year, I put them on immediately after I finished the first race and wore them until the second race that day. I wore them after the second race and slept in them. I got up the next day and did a 50 mile road race. My wife wears them as well and also has 2XUs.

I see a lot of higher category racers wearing them and they were prevalent at last years masters track state championships worn on the podium.

Do they actually work and assist recovery or performance? I think they do but have no quantitative testing to prove it. They feel pretty good on after a race and the UCI has not banned them yet for post ride recovery.
