Brooks butchering phew!
The the B.17 S was only slight butchered. I removed a sliver of apron to relieve pressure as the flare was becoming very irritating. So far so good. Will try a longer ride to see if more needs to come off. The saddle is easy to cut, the hard part is getting each side to match! Now if only I can solve the handlebar problem so easily....

Others have punched a few holes in the apron and laced them to pull them together under the seat.

It's like anything else, if you pay a lot for something it is by default the perfect purchase, whether it be a new $4K CF bike, a $250 bike fit or a brooks saddle. To argue otherwise is just like trying to teach a pig to sing.

On the Bars- 11 years ago I had to modify my ride position on the MTB due to a bypass that meant I had to take pressure off the chest. Went to riser bars and they did feel wierd at first. But they bring the bars rearwards and up so it worked.
Not a really good pic to see it but The hand position came back by 2" and height is still controllable by the stem and Rotation of the bars. And the bar ends are short Stubbies. Just long enough to stop the hands falling off the end of the bars.

the handyman's secret weapon...
Duct tape: the handy man's (or woman's) secret weapon! Where would we be without it? Long live Possum Lodge.
But speaking of handlebars-I am going to try a 30mm riser bar next..as its the easiest and cheapest way to go. If that works then I'm good to go. If it works part way-then maybe 40mm rise bar..like my old schwinn mtn bike. The bad part will be if I need to change cable lengths...
Additionally I am thinking that it could be the angle(wrist) of the backsweep that is wrong for me as well. Just a few more degrees back might do the trick. I saw an identical bar on ebay (cannondale c3) for like 15.00 bucks...could just buy it and try some bends..not sure how good of a bender I am..but what the heck. It'll be fun to try. I suppose getting a stronger core would help with these problems as well-as in doing more core conditioning..ewwwwwww-situps.

New bikes do take a bit of settling into. New muscles to get working- or old ones working a different way. Give the bars afew rides to see if the body can adjust. It is surprising how Pain can turn into discomfort with a bit of training- and then disappear. But have to admit that I came off straight bars onto risers and haven't looked back but that was due to a body that had changed overnight.
And on Duct tape- If it moves and it shouldn't-Then fix it with Duct tape.
And if it doesn't move but should-Then WD 40 is the cure.
So you can throw away half of the tool kit you have aquired over the years.
