Something's askew... |
As many others have alluded to, the ride "is" the point, nothing else neededBud

Any health benefits I gain from pointless riding are merely the icing on the fun cake. As I've said before...I'd probably ride even if riding wasn't good for me. |

I'd say that kind of ride is right on point. Needing to always have a goal for a ride seems kind of pointless to me.

Most of my rides are pointless. The point is to ride.

I ride a fixie. I have never used a cycling computer. Never logged, miles, heart rate, or anything else. I ride wherever the front wheel takes me. That's pretty much it. Why screw it all up with numbers? The only thing worth counting is the number of attractive female cyclists, (or joggers. Why not?) you see.
|
Went on a pretty much pointless ride today, so pointless i made sure no one passed me today, just to let them know there is no point in their riding because they can't even pass a 65 year old man on a harsh 1989 Aluminum bike. Although a 6 year old girl on her fixed gear bike did try to spin it up just to see if she could keep pace with me, or maybe she was just trying to catch her parents who dropped her off their back wheel. It was hot, windy and was not supposed to be a fun ride but it did turn into a very pleasant ride with a lot of fun parts, aside from the pointless parts.

I forgot what the point of this post was. Blame it on the beer . . .

I didn't know they made pointed rides.

"The law clearly states that everyone and everything must have a point," said the king. (Another The Point reference)
Good riding, Oblio. |

Point
Hey there, ALL my rides have a point. I point the front wheel where I want to go:innocent:. Tim

I think I've perfected the art of riding for fun. I used to be speed-obsessed, but some medical problems kept me off the bike for nearly a year. I'm just getting back into it now, and sometimes I go and ride around the block just because I can.
I'd like to do one more century before i die (it's not imminent, as far as I know, but I'm 65...), so I may slip back into Training Mode, but I'm never going to forget how good it felt just to bet on the bike and ride aimlessly after so long without it. |

Today I had a few hours and just decided to ride just for fun. Didn't worry if my cadence was a little low. I didn't attack any hills at all. I coasted when I felt like coasting. I took breaks when my body said to. I stopped for a candy bar.
It was just what the head-doctor ordered. I could literally feel the stress sloughing off. I was just a guy out riding. Just about brought tears to my eyes, it was so fun. I'm gonna schedule a few more pointless rides for sure. Al |
My rides start off pointless...turn into the Tour de France...then end pointless...
|
No pointless rides here, my rides have to have some purpose, otherwise my bikes stay parked. With a constant need for work commutes, errand running, and shopping, my bikes do not stay parked for very long.
|
When I commute, I point my ride towards work. On other rides I point somewhere else, you know, in a pointless fashion. Something like an existential void....
