Anyone here try a Burley Tavoy trailer?
I am not very knowledgeable about bike trailers, but saw one of these in a bike shop the other day and thought it looked interesting. From what I can tell, once you unhook the trailer from the bike it's a lot more manageable than most other bike trailers -- you can wheel it around like a piece of luggage you'd wheel through an airport.

I use a Burley Nomad. When I check in to a hotel, it is awkward to wheel down the hall.
This Travois looks like it would wheel really nicely by hand. |
Looks interesting. If I didn't already have a Bob I use for shopping, I might consider one. Any idea how much it costs?

There is a review in the current issue of Bicycle Times.

Looks like a great idea, but I wonder how well it takes bumps, RR tracks and such with those little wheels.

A friend of mine has this and loves it. She rides a folder and when she gets to where she's going she folds the bike up, pops it into it's carry bag - carries that over her shoulder and wheels her trailer into the building & elevator. I haven't seen it in action but according to her it makes everything super easy and super simple. She wheels it around when she's shopping, too like a shopping cart - then after checkout she attaches it to her bike and heads home.

Here's a good mini-review from Kent Peterson (very savvy bike blogger in Seattle). Shows some pictures of a Tavoy with a folder:

I just received one. It works great. Tracks better and handles obstacles (chicanes) better than a standard trailer. It is also much better to ride with than loaded panniers (my old method). The ability to easily take it off and into places (store and gym) is also a great feature. The ability to do multiple stops makes it super useful for running errands.
