So, how did you spend....

...your last day of Summer?

The weather dude had promised sunny weather and temps. near 80*F so I got up early (ish) and dug the Tour Easy out of it's resting place out in the garage. I hadn't ridden it since August 4th.

The weather was less than promised but Fred & I took a little ride anyway. Fred is in the bar bag up front.

Home for lunch and my Honey mentioned some errands she needed me to drive her on. So we drove around town for a bit and then....Ooo the weather is improving, sooooo............

...took a

......and then we

....before going to the restaurant for a Turkey Dinner!

Autumn begins tomorrow night.
"September brings the last day of summer and the first day of fall. Here is the precise moment and date when fall arrives for the northern hemisphere:
September 22, 2010 at 11:09 pm EDT"

I'll be riding tomorrow. Probably do my usual 35 mile loop unless I get an email from a riding buddy letting me know he's off of work and wants to ride. Then we'll ride to someplace different. Not nearly as scenic around here as it is where you are.

Well, to keep things clear in case anyone had any doubts, I rode both yesterday and today. In fact I took a video with my cell phone of the view from the top of Chatfield Dam, and if I can figure this thing out, I will post it. Don't hold your breath, though. These things never seem to work without some kind of transformation into some other strange format. Why can't the computer gurus come up with a standard that everyone agrees to. Oh, I know -progress. Like, I used to be able to sit my portable TV on the back porch and watch a lot of channels. Now, they have changed everything, and I have to buy a new portable TV, and because of lack of "line of sight" I only get 4 channels. Hey, that's real progress.

But, I digress.

Well, I couldn't figure it out - the xxxxx.3g2 seems to be a problem

OK, got it to work through YouTube - not bad for a 70+'er. See it below.

I rode 35 miles this morning.
I'm going to ride 25 miles after work tonight.
I'll ride 35-40 miles in the am tommorow.
I'll ride 20-25 after work tommorow.

That should cover the summer/fall change.

I worked all day when I should have been riding. But I need the paycheck so work prevailed.

OK, I will try this. This is a 360 degree view from my ride yesterday taken from the top of Chatfield Dam in SE Denver Metro area - from Longs Peak on the north, to Mt Evans on the west to Pikes Peak on the south, taken with my cell phone. As you can see, we have had no moisture for almoat 1.5 months.

First time I have tried this!

It may be the last day of Summer, but it is far from the last day of hot, humid summer weather here in south Louisiana. I'm looking forward to November!

I plan to celebrate the Fall Equinox tonight around a bonfire with other good Pagans.

I'm glad to realize this was a false alarm. I'd hate to think I spent the last moments of summer trapped in the living room while my wife watches "Dancing With the Stars" while Carlos Santana plays a cover of a Def Leopard tune.

I was stuck at work until late today, but I can still get in one last ride of summer on Wednesday.

Spent most of the day laboring over a failed building control computer. Ugh! Did get in an hour fly fishing at a community pond. Not even a strike. Rats! I WILL ride tomorrow!

Rode the Tuesday night hill-climbing ride, maybe for the last time this season. It was a very pleasant sunny evening and I was thrilled to be out riding. It's 41 miles.

During much of the summer I was doing about two 40-45 mile rides on weekday evenings, but those evenings are gone or almost so. Between the loss of daylight and increased work demands, my miles are already plummeting. I was maintaining 180-240 miles/week for much of the summer, but now I'm down to about 120.

Summers coming to an end- but if previous years are anything to go by- There is still plenty of Good weather to come. Just less daylight to use it.

I was out riding for half an hour already this morning, before I realized it was an occasion. Sounds like a celebratory night ride along the waterfront at 11ish and then a beer at Suzy's Tiki. Anybody want to join me?

Skipped dinner on Mon. and rode 20 miles with a big hill in there. Tue did half that with hubs. Today the medical world will intrude as we learn the results of his (3rd) pet scan and what is next. Cancer sucks. He was a goner last November and had come back enough for us to ride more- albeit slower, than we have ever ridden before-hooray! If weather clears we will ride tonight as well. And all the 'nice' days we can. I am buying lights today.

I did a 37 mile ride to lunch with friends. It may be the last official day of summer but the temperatures are still predicted in the 90's tomorrow Where is the pleasant fall weather?

We could use some rain....the river is really low.

A nice 10 mile loop around the neighborhood (The blocks are big out here in the country). It was about 90F and it will probably be about the same tomorrow when I do a longer first ride of Autumn. But there are lower temps (mid 80s) forecast for next week.

Spend my last day of summer riding with someone literally half my age (I'm 65 and he is 33). What a workout!!
We rode up too many hills and lots of rollers.
