Why was the AARP thread closed?
Just wondering. Did the OP request it (too much of that lately, IMO) or did someone ahem whine about it because it wandered away from the prevailing 50+ ethos?
|
I was looking for honest replies and opinions about an alternative to AARP. It got too political so I closed it. I didn't want it moved to P&R.
|
You started a clearly political thread (yes, I read it) and didn't want it moved to P&R? A mod should know better.
|
OK. As I was saying, just wondering. I'll drop it.
In fairness to the OP, he was much more likely to get a response about AARP on this forum than he might have gotten on, say, the fixie forum. Now, before everyone starts whining about Glenn Beck, please close this thread down. |
I have a tip for very old drivers - 21st.com Whenever a "very seasoned" driver calls my office for a quote we refer them there. My Mom is 91 and I just had her get a quote off their website as her State Farm premium almost doubled - it was less than half the price. 80s or 90s, sometimes 70s age range It is the old AIG program for older drivers. It's all done online and really easy.

Once I clicked on the link, and saw "that person's" picture staring at me, I knew everything was headed downhill.

The smell of fish was strong that night, my friends.:D

This has the stench of totalitarian slander, paving the road to suppression and persecution. |
|
Threads about AARP would probably be better served here than in P&R.

Those Russkies built some nice bikes, though.

Can I get a discount on that bike through AARP?

Da, ya lyublu rusknich dyavushich (horrible transliteration, actually sounds better in Russian).

I missed the original thread, however. |
Hmm, I suggested in another recent thread that someone who just turned fifty join AARP and had no idea AARP was so controversial ... and I still don't on account of the AARP thread disappeared. Is AARP related to bicycling? ... well http://aarp.duvine.com/?intcmp=ASI-RR-FIT-DUV yes. BTW DuVine looks like they have some very nice tours.

AARP was not the controversial part of the discussion. The thread is still there, it is just closed. You can read it but not post to it.
|
Look at AMAC as an alternative to AARP. AMAC is a far better organization. www.amac.us
