Shameless Bragging of a 50+ Grandfather
I don't do any bragging about myself here on the 50+ forum, but when it comes to my grandchildren it's hard to contain myself.
My granddaughter, Logan, who by the way has shown to be a superb cyclist, is rated 14th nationwide as a high school basketball player at her grade and position. She has starred beginning in the the 4th grade, on every team she's played on including grade school, middle school, high school, and AAU.
The reports have her listed as 5'8", but that was her height as a Freshman - she's now about 5'11" as a Senior-to-be in September.
Logan has finally made her college selection. After being offered hundreds of scholarships, she has chosen Bowling Green State University here in Ohio.
Oh, BTW, did I mention she is also a member of the National Honor Society?
Sorry about the gushing, I'll shut up now.

Smart and a talented athlete.
That kind of success often indicates a well rounded childhood supplied by a very loving family. You have much to be proud of sir.

Louis,
You have every right to gush and brag; that is quite an accomplishment! She is very lucky to have a grandfather who is so proud of her. Congratulations to Logan and you!

That's awesome Louis, kids like that don't just happen, they come from good parents, who in turn came from good grandparents. You are justifiably proud.

I haven't got a grandchild yet, but when I do I'm certain the kid will be a genius (and will always have a nice bicycle, courtesy of Grandpa.)

Just hope I can brag about my Grandchildren when they mature- but at 18 months and - 1 month they have a long way to go.
But have you informed logan about cross training yet- Surely you have a bike that will fit her for a couple of training rides with you

Thanks again to everyone for the compliments.
I can't wait for basketball season, but first we have to go through volleyball season which is plenty exciting in itself. Logan is also a team leader in volleyball although she has chosen basketball as her #1 sport.
I'd like to have a dime for every game I've attended including Logan's older brother and her dad (our son), over the years.

Fantastic - and I bet the parents are just as proud (and happy that the college tuition will be taken care of).

A few years ago we went out and she thoroughly kicked my butt. Now, at 5'11", I doubt any of my bikes could be adjusted to fit her. I ride 53cm frames.

Glad to see she never bought in to the ieda one has to be an athlete or a scholar, not both. It wasn't until I went to Occidental College that I met large numbers of true scholar athletes. (I had one friend who chose Oxy because 180 Lb linemen did not play at Stanford, he ended up a McArthur fellow and studied at Oxford).
