From the location of the article I thought maybe the rider was busted for having a huge marijuana farm out in the back. When that happens in Kentucky they torch it and we stand around and watch the flames for hours.

Cool! A well-written, inspiring, upbeat article too!

Very nice article. It's too bad more kids in school aren't exposed to the joys of riding to work.
On that same day, I was a guest on the morning show of DFW radio station KLUV, as a lung cancer survivor and cyclist. KLUV, it turns out, has two lung cancer survivors who work there. They have formed a team for the walk linked to in my signature. The two survivors were joking on air that they would be walking, not running, since no one who's had lung surgery would be running. I posted in my rbent forum that they might be surprised to find someone who's had the same surgery that rides a bicycle 140 miles a week. Katie Brown, who leads the walk, saw my post and sent them a link. Next thing I knew, they asked me to be on their show. Excellent! Thanks for posting.

But does it really rain where you folks live??? Very nice article.

Great post. Its good to see something positive in the news.

Wonderful article. And I just loved that readers' comment from Brenda Holmes, who was jokingly complaining that she had been riding her bike for transportation in that same area for years and years, and nobody every wrote an article about her. I kinda feel the same way; I've been riding the bike to work since the early 70's, and after moving to Vancouver, riding all year long thru rain and snow, and nobody ever notices or cares. Well, I don't make any big thang out of it, either. But it was nice to see that other people are being ignored, too!

Hey - I am being more ignored than you! I'm the champion of being ignored. This morning I was riding to work, my wife passed me in our car, and she didn't even see me wave (I am confident she wasn't texting....I was on a MUP that runs along an Interstate). |
Great article with excellent pics! Tricia is awesome! I bet a bunch of future cyclists will credit their 8th grade teacher, Ms. Campbell, with igniting their passion!

It's surprising how few bike commuters there are here. My commute bike is pretty distinguishable, a recumbent with a full fairing, and my LBS has remained surprised at how many people come in the store and mention seeing me. It would be much better if there were lots of us riding to work. |
Why was she not wearing "the jersey" in the pic?
