Seemunkee, you can do it. The first one we did was Seattle to Portland. I think we overestimated it and, thus, over-trained. Better to do it that way than to come up short. If you do it, you should feel very good about your accomplishment. Doubles are fun.

I'm hoping to do a Super Randonneur series this spring, but don't have specific dates picked yet.

When is the next pie ride? I will set aside some time and training for that.

I've already registered for two week long tours. AMBA in Auburn, Alabama in May and GOBA (Great Ohio Bike Adventure) in June. They guarantee the GOBA route this year will be much flatter than last year:thumb:

We're also hoping to do a week or so of riding in the Burlington, VT area in late summer. I'm currently pouring over maps and ride routes for the area. It looks like the area is perfect for biking.....and I can avoid the mountains in the area:o

Death Valley is alive with Bike rides. It may be too late to get in.

Aside from the usual races I'll be doing there are two race events that I hope to do. The MonTour 75 in Danville PA is a fun citizen race with over 7,000 ft of climbing. I did the event two years ago along with two brother-in-laws. I also hope to ride my mtb in the Iceman Cometh Challenge mountain bike race in Kalkaska MI. Getting into the race is hard as the 3,000 spots usually are taken during the first couple hours once registration opens.

Inspired by Curtis' reports and my own experience flyfishing in the area, my deposit is in for Cycle Montana in June.
While out west I may try the Trail of the Coeur d'Alenes on my own... we will see about that one.
The Iron Horse Classic in late May in Durango is a maybe... have also fished there and I would love a return to Durango!
In July the One Helluva Ride in Ann Arbor is looking like a real strong possibility also.

Other than that, it's just going to be the usual... riding my bikes and whatever local events strike my fancy. Oh yes... at least one trip up to the Root River Trail is a near certainty.

I do that ride every year, weather permitting of course! It's a good ride, but what about it would bring you clear from Nebraska to do it? We didn't even go through Hell this year, due to poor roads. (The road to Hell is not paved with good intentions, it's pretty severely-potholed.)

Let's not forget the Borrego Springs Century (East of San Diego) on 1 January. Definitely a chance to start the New Year off with a bang.

Sounds interesting (and I will check it out), but mrs az_cyclist has some plans in Phoenix on Dec 31. There is the Casa Grande Century on Jan 9, by the Phoenix Metro Bike club.

You'll LOVE the Montana ride. That's my sweet wife in one of the photos on Adventure Cycling's Cycle Montana page! And thanks for the Trail of the Coeur d'Alenes info and link. I didn't know about it, and may be able to work a ride there into my summer plans, which include two rides with Adventure Cycling.

YES! The Iron Horse Classic is a great ride, and Durango is in full party mode over the Memorial Day weekend, cycle racing, runners and fun times. I can also work in a few days in Moab too, sounds like a good time!

I'm off to do the first event of the 2011 year (a bit early). I'm meeting NealH down near Charleston, SC for a couple days at the Festivelo Event. We'll ride the century tomorrow and then one of the options offered for Sunday.

No formal rides planned for me, however I am working toward doing the entire Silver Comet/Chief Ladiga trails in one day (94 miles) in mid-July, and a 120 mile, one day ride from Warner Robins to Norman Park in early August

Hey, BD, I will see you there! Also thanks to Curtis' write-up of his experience with Adventure Cycling Association rides, I just pulled the trigger this morning and registered for Cycle Montana. I had looked at it over the last couple of years, but thought the final day riding on the freeway into Missoula wasn't very appealing. I liked the change they made for this year. Bozeman is a wonderful town. I've driven around there a lot, and I have family in Wyoming that I'll be driving over to see after finishing the Montana ride.

When I return to Washington, I'm planning on doing the Seattle-to-Portland ride. Did it about four years ago in two days. This year I'll register for the one-day ride, and Cycle Montana will help me get more ready for that.

Cool! I have been around Bozeman quite a bit and have fished around Ennis (first night's stop) for several years. Also have been over in the Ruby River Valley to Twin Bridges a time or two. I am pretty psyched for the ride! Let's get in touch as time approaches.

DanteB, you are a god. I did 5 last year, and I'm not going to do that again. It darn near killed me. I'm thinking maybe Davis, and even that's a maybe.
But you are on track to dominate the Triple Crown. Won't that give you a bunch over 50.Double.Centuries?
Yikes.

The CdA Trail should be really wonderful. I was out there in 2008 and actually saw the trail near both ends but had no idea it was the same trail. However be advised that the trail does not go through the town of Coeur d'Alene itself, which has great food and other amenities, so be sure to stop in there. The boat tour of the lake from downtown is nice and the Cataldo Mission is also worth a visit along the Trail.

You all are making me tired just thinking about ridding in all these events.

If get them done then I'll have 50. I'd like to do my 50th on the Grand Tour, it was my first. As I look at the dates circled on the calander for these doubles I just............. "what am I thinking"! I did 8 in '10 and I was tired, now I've scheduled 9 for '11 in just a 19 week span, should I start writing my epitaph.

I just got kicked off of Camino Real by a business trip to the U.K. so my 50th will be Spring Solvang (hopefully), or if that one goes all wrong then Hemet. Whatever, as long as I get #50 before Knoxville, no problem. If I get into good climbing shape I may try Devil Mountain.

Or not. I don't seem to be very motivated at the moment . . . maybe that will change.

Events for 2011.

I plan a similar number of races that I did last year with some modifications.

Track:

1. Train at the track (Hellyer Velodrome) once per week.
2. Participate in the LAVRA Cup series at LA Velodrome in Carson, CA. This is a series of 6 races consisting of an omnium and timed events.
3. Compete in the Masters State and National Championships

Road:

1. Compete in the Berkeley Hills Team Time Trial with my wife but riding TT bikes versus the tandem.
2. Compete in the Beat the Clock time trial series.
3. Compete in the Mount Diablo Hill Climb.
4. Compete in the Calavaras ITT, and the Altamount TTT

PBP (Paris-Brest-Paris) and all the necessary qualifying rides. And maybe the Portland-Glacier 1000k just for giggles. That should keep me busy thru August.
