Saved From a Brain Burp
Flew out of Denver yesterday to come home. Because there was a sale on computers we bought new ones to replace our antiques. The new screens and processors can only be described as Wow.
Going through security we had the old and new computers in our carry ons. Nary an unfriendly word was said by either the TSA folks, nor the people who had to wait while we unpacked and repacked.
But, after repacking my computers in my carry on I grabbed the expansion zipper tab instead of the lid zipper tab when I was closing the bag. So, when I swung the bag off the table two of the computers, and everything else, fell . TSA jumped right in helping make sure I recovered everything and hadn't lost anything.
Immediate damage was a trim piece and the optical drive door cover on the old computer which I am using for this post.
Arrived home this morning, set everything up and lo and behold everything works just fine. A bit of Super Glue on the trim and all will be well on the old computer. The new one is undamaged and also works quite well.
Whew!!!

Whew indeed. Those carry cases can be harder to manage than the gear they protect!
I infer from your note that all your data was safely archived. Otherwise your drive would have taken the opportunity to die right there in the security area.

Yes, indeed. A complete backup before we started the trip to the States. The new machines didn't have anything on them yet other than the original software.

Wow, you really lucked out with that one! I guess that's the equivalent of scratching the logo section of the brifters when you join club Tombay, i.e., no real damage.

My wife's laptop has been around the block. The post keeps the screen from flopping down.

My 16yo daughters' laptop has a new keyboard(it was/is a pos), and a new screen(somehow, it hit the floor, nobody knows how). The keyboard I sent out, the screen I did my self. BTW it has never been out of the house.
