New bike toys under the tree?
I remember threads in years past asking what new bike stuff we found under the tree. I don't see one this year so I thought I'd start one.
I know some of you got the ultimate toy -- a new bike. What other cycling-related good stuff did you find under the tree? I'll go first: Garmin 800  Got Hubby a pair of Rudy Project photochromic sunglasses (price reduced 40%) and a pair of wool socks for winter early-morning rides. Also got myself a pair of wool socks when I realized the pair I initially got him were not his size and would fit my feet instead. :innocent: |

A torque wrench... does that count? It's for bike stuff only. Need to buy some fittings.
Also a GPS but for driving. It has cycling and walking mode for planning but doesn't keep track of where you've been like the GPS cyclocomputers do. I put it on walking mode and set my destination for the end of the street and took my dog for a walk. When we got there it said "you have arrived at your destination", then my dog went poop... I'm not sure the TomTom folks know about this feature. |

Socks seem to be the thing this year. 5 pairs of thick woollen ones and a replacement pair for the Sealskinzs that the sock fairy got last year.

I got a pair of PI leg warmers from my daughter. I also put one of my bikes under the tree as Santa didn't bring one this year. It wouldn't be Christmas without a bike around the tree. I also received a Garmin 800 but a bit before Christmas.

I found out that a lump of coal does not have GPS capability
|
I got a new Salsa Pro Moto Ti stem and new R670 SPD-SL pedals to go on my new Roubaix and the Bike Snob book to read.

My daughter got me my flying WV bike jersey but it will not be delivered until the end of January so she got me a Tampa Bay Rays bike jersey for under the tree. So Christmas will come again about the first of Feb.
|
I got a new seat back and cushon for my Stratus.
|
I received only one gift this Christmas:
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/m...pjumper002.jpg It's an 03 Stumpjumper with an 07/08 Fox F-100 fork upgrade. I have no complaints.:D |
Obviously, Santa is not the innocent old elf we've been led to believe he is. He is a sly old boy and has intelligence agents in the field or at least at the LBS near the permanent residence in Louisiana.
He left me a Cygolite Expilion 250 lumen light, which just happens to fit my helmet. Way to go Santa! The helmet light will add some additional illumination and flexibility to my after-work night rides. I've been wanting to be able to see into corners before entering them and have been wanting to be able get the attention of motorists at intersections. |

Report back on the Garmin - I'm starting to become semi-interested in GPS.
...snip.... My main cycling gift... as mentioned in another post: http://inlinethumb02.webshots.com/46...500x500Q85.jpg |
Wow! White Sidis. :thumb:
I was thinking about those last summer but just couldn't spend that kind of money. Mrs Santa got me a new bike. :D |
I got a Garmin FR60 from the three kids. I already have a GPS thingy on my phone and didn't want to spend the money I the more expensive Garmin toys. I know it means having two toys on my bike that it just the way it has to be.
Oh and I got a new bike ordered. Will be here in April just after the snow is gone. |
A pair of Vittoria Corsa Evo CX tubulars, a new set of bibs, and two sets of insulated tights. Perhaps more importantly my oldest son loved the bike rack we got him for his pickup truck. (It really felt like a gift to see the simle on his face. It wasn't that expensive, but for some reason, he just lit up when it opened it.)
|
I got a new set of Speedplay pedals from the missus. The thing is, she's clever: She got me the top-of-the-line model with the titanium shafts, that have a 185lb rider weight limit. So she's forcing me to maintain my svelt girlish figure! :)
|
I got an Amazon gift certificate to use for bike stuff. They tried going to the LBS, but hadn't realized it moved.
|
Well I got the Mrs. a new set of "full fenders" and we put a upgraded set of "new to me" wheel's on layaway at the LBS to be put on the bike, with new 8 speed shifters and cluster, on New Years Eve! ;)

Lump of coal.
