My attention span has shrunk with age so I only read the first sentence of a post, and only the first and last posts of a thread. So its harder to get annoyed. Does that sum it up?

I only read your first sentence - was there a question?

I find there's a lot of political material interjected that many posters are OK with. It's only a problem if someone disagrees.

Politics & Religion? Right? There doesn't seem to be a forum with that name. Is it possible that there were so many problems with it that it has been eliminated?

It's there but you have to look for it. See if you can find a category called "The Lounge". Politics and Religion will be a sub heading.

P&R are contentious subjects where no one is actually right. Or is everyone right? Thus there are endless heated arguments. Regardless of your personal beliefs why would you subject yourself to that voluntarily? Just go to a country music bar on Friday.

Many people have very strongly held but mutually exclusive opinions. That tends to lead to some nasty conflicts. If you'll notice, we're fighting a war (or two) right now based on the proper way to refer to and worship our mutual creator.

Or start a thread about the correct way to clean and lube a chain.

P@R and trollheim can both be quite entertaining. Like many things in life, you just need to separate the wheat from the chaff.

You must hang out at Thumper Talk to start with that gem. I have laughed at so many "Which Oil?" threads that go to hell really quickly. They need a thrown tomato smilie for the unwashed masses to use when they start in on the poor guy. Shame is the guy is usually fairly if not totally new and just wants to know some info from the forum dime store experts. Kind of reminds me of a BD question in the Road forum.

Go back to TT some time when you get the chance and read some of the Town Square threads and replies. The mods there stay busy in the forums and that one really gets strange some times. Our Road forum and P/R are tame compared to that forum.

Sedate? Civil and respectful of others? In my opinion yes, for the most part. I've met some amazing people through this forum and I look forward to keeping up with them and reading their posts. There are others here as well...

I checked P&R out a little. It reminds me of the WWF! Throw your hat into the ring, and take your chances. If you get slammed you've essentially asked for it. Expectations are the big difference between that and 50+

Correct and trollheim is P&R on steroids. I don't find either particularly fun.

Yep still wander by there occasionally. However the statement was true. I do. Some of them are 2 strokes. That's an even better argument.

XR2,
No problem with synthetic in a vintage bike at all. I am assembling a 73 Maico 400 and I have always used Bel-Ray gear box and mix. Yamalube 4R in the 426.
