Have heard of this before but never heard of a good result.
But for your amusement and ridicule. http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=183935 http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=183936 Have heard of a good result. A lad in Eastbourne rode in and found himself snowed in for the commute home. Tried the Zip ties and on Snow and Ice they worked. He lost a few but as they broke they just fell off the wheel. He got the idea off Gizmodo- which is where these pics came from. So as a Quick get you home- it's worth a try And off the same source--work this one out http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=183937 Think of the Xmas carol- The 1st day of Christmas Answers on a $5 note posted to********** |

The zip tie idea would work to retain a loose tubular tho..:p Tim

Wow, I'm impressed. Fixed gear in the snow . . . with zip ties and disc brakes! This rider really rocks and gets my vote for hard core rider of the year.

I can't tell for sure, but that rear hub looks large, like an internally geared hub. You'd need some sort of non-rim brakes for this work, so the disk brakes are pretty much a given.

But if it's a fixie, you don't really need brakes, right? Or you just don't stop.
