Snipe bid gone horribly wrong!
I missed bidding on a nice frame so I asked the seller to list with a BIN. He is a first time seller and re-listed for 24 hours. I waited until the last 10 seconds to place my bid ($30 over start price) and Ebay had logged me off. By the time it logged me on the auction was closed!

Sorry about the failure, don't you have enough bikes yet?

Bummer... I have been caught in a similar situation trying to bid and thinking I was already signed on to eBay when I wasn't. I assume the frame sold to someone else.

oops

If it didn't sell, perhaps a note to the seller for yet another relist might work, especially if you sweeten it with a few extra dollars to make up for his time.

I have to put my BIONX kit and studded tires back on the cross bike and start commuting. I might have made it home in the heavy snow faster last night with that setup. The commute should energize my weight loss program. |
From the title of the thread I was expecting you had accidentally added an extra zero or two to the amount of your bid. At least it wasn't that! :)

I use an auction sniper program, I love it. I don't even have to be online to win an auction, just set it and forget it. The only times i have not won, have been instances where someone bid higher than my maximum amount that I was willing to pay.
I like a sniper because it keeps me out of bidding wars. I just decide what I am willing to pay, enter that amount, if necessary it will bid that amount, if not, it will go just high enough to win--late enough to win. For example when I got my vintage Bell Tourlite helmet, I set my max amount at 100 dollars, I wound up getting it for eleven dollars. |
It's the risk in sniping that makes it so much fun. It's the only way to bid.

+1 on sniping programs. I use Gixen. It is free and works great.

I'm all about what works for me, sporting is not something I am concerned with. |
Those programs took all the fun out of eBay for me.

When 'sniping' open two pages so you can watch the clock on one page and use the other for bidding. Get the bidding page to the 'confirm bid' page and wait until about 4 or 5 seconds. Works great for me; I picked up several really nice golf clubs last year for very few $$ doing it that way.
