Just because fountains are freezing over, they've delayed the start of the Phoenix Open and it's much colder than normal, get the heck out and ride!!!!! We love this kind of weather back home..........(from a Tempe visitor)

I think they are all in jail because they didn't carry their birth certificate on the last ride.

Trying to lure someone into rescinding a self-imposed permanent ban?

Or off coloring our hair blonde to avoid having Sherriff Joe put us in pink underwear while he detains us to validate our immigration status.

Wednesday morning, I did hill repeats on my way to work. Wind chill had it in the 20's, there was a 25mph+ headwind, and the 90 minute ride turned me into a popsicle. Took forever for my fingers and toes to feel warm again. We aren't used to this stuff! It should be warmer for the ride tomorrow morning - I'll be out on a club ride, then extending it to get to at least 4 hours total.

Hope you don't get caught in the cross fire between Mexican drug gangs on your ride.

We are a bit far north for that, and I've heard a Tijuana vendor quoted as saying: "Why do you stay away? The gangs only shoot each other!"

Been down with the flu! Planning on doing a ride on Saturday. Right after the fit session for the new carbon bike. I'm pumped.

This cold snap is keeping me off the bike. I have nothing to prove by freezing my fingers and toes off. Maybe if I had the gear to wear to keep me warm, but probably not. I guess I'm just not that macho.

Having the right gear does make a world of difference.

I'm now back in less than sunny and far from warm NC. It's 34 degrees and raining. I can't seem to catch a break.

Not quite there yet, but will be- I'm moving to Flagstaff in October. If you thought PHX was cold... how about a high of 12F in Flag on Tuesday and a low of -19F on January 2! But Arizona is all hot desert...

There is a certain satisfaction in seeing the cruel jaws of the North American winter descending on Phoenix and Dallas.

I have actually done that and you are so correct!! Everything was bone dry in mid August---all because of the "dry" heat!!!

We are ridding again. Yesterday was a beautiful day and today in the low 70s, clear sky's and no wind. Now that's hard to beat. But is was cold there for a while there.

Got a Scattante CGR Elite - Performance's carbon road bike. 2010 model, so it's on sale for about $1200 off list. Couldn't really pass it up.

Performance is doing the fit.

It was 33 when our club ride left the park Saturday morning ( I always ride to the park). I prefer riding when it is warmer, but, I still rode!
