Cabin Fever
It has got to the stage that I can't remember my last decent ride and it is not Dementia. Been out on the bike to see if my legs still work and the bike is not frozen solid but only for a few miles at a time. I can only get rides in at the weekend and so far we have had Snow- heavy frost- heavy rain or gale force winds every weekend since the beginning of Decenber. Did get out for a 20 miler on new years day but that was out of Bravado in the cold weather to meet my Brother- in-law who drove down to the Seafront for a walk.
So I decided that this weekend- I was riding- come what may. Weather forecast put the temp a bit reasonable but depending on the weather forecast- there would be rain or there wouldn't . Wind was going to be high at around 25mph but------------------- Today- the 25mph wind meant that I was hit by flying debris at work. 50mph gust when I was in the yard and a sheet of Ply board hit me. The edge of it caught me on the back of the neck I went down like a sack of spuds. Hurt a bit and I went home so I could get ready for tomorrow. But now- 8 hours later and I have just got back from A&E. I can't raise my arms above my chest. All I have is bruises but it is painfull. So No matter what the weather is going to be like tomorrow- I will not be riding again. Though judging by the weather tonight- that may not be a bad thing. |
Good luck on that ride. Your a better man than I am, cause no way would I be out in that kind of weather. You da man!!
|
Maybe a heating pad might help? I hope you feel better soon, and wait until it is warmer and safer to ride.
|
Ouch...Get some rest.
|
Ow! That sounds terrible! I hope you feel better. Maybe Miss Ferne will rub Grumpy's neck for him.
|
Get better soon!
More snow here. We can relate to cabin fever, big time.:notamused: |
What's this "heavy rain" you speak of? Is it white like real precipitation?
|
Ouch! Hope all is okay, stap.
I'm gonna need a translation...A&E? I'm guessing it's the Emergency Room...? |
On the 'incident' front, sympathies. On the 'weather' front (cabin fever), no sympathy whatsoever!!! We've been snowed/iced in since the first week of December; no end in sight for at least another four weeks.

OOooooooo, Loius, I thimk she aflirtin wid ya, yu dawg yu. :roflmao2:

Hope you feel better soon Stapfam... I've been too sore to do any riding simply because I have been moving Snow, and Ice so much. First came the Snow, then came the Sleet, then came the Freezing rain; this was all in one night!!! Even if I felt better from flighting Mother Nature (she is winning), the roads and paths are far too dangerous with the weather we've been having. I wish I was inside enough lately to have "Cabin Fever", now to go take some pain pills for my shoulders and back...:notamused:

Good Grief, Louis! You really MUST have cabin fever--you've changed your avatar to the Soup Nazi!!! Do you know, Louis, that right up until you posted pictures of yourself so that we could recognize you in the Finger Lakes, my mental image of you was a young Alan Ginsburg? It took me sometime to reconcile that image with the real (and much better looking) you in my mind! :D

Oh man live somewhere you can ride the shelf ice , 30 miles or so. If your not getting a real winter forget it , move to Florida.
|
There is snow piled up against the windows at work..........and they are high windows. True, it's a function of clearing off the roof, and we do still have a roof which is good, but there is no way I'm going for a ride. I've just about had it with New England. The bikes sit motionless. The helicopters hover in the living room but can't move about much. I think I'll go to work at 2am on Saturday morning to make up for the snow days................
What is that motorcycle add..............."I wanna ride" We now return you to your normal lesser whines. |

Wow Stap, Good thing you had your back turned! Get well soon!! P.S. Dangerous place, that work. Now, what were you saying about retirement? |
I understend that cabin fever feeling.
Last Saturday I spiffied up my old beater bike with my grandson. Today we have about 3 inches of new fluffy snow but there are slick patches from the last storm here and there under it. Retro is not riding today. Worse yet, there's no football on television and Mrs. Grouch is going to work. |
Ow.

Now that is bad. Been out in the garden this morning to keep myself moving and This afternoon the wife is going out- Time to relax the neck and shoulders and possibly the eyelids. Looks Like I will have to watch the recording of Wales V. England from last night in Rugby. Will have to really as England Won---In Wales---that hasn't happened for a good few years. Still feeling a bit stiff but Relaxation may cure it--That may stretch into monday though. |

This might help in the future old chap ;-) |
Just keeping telling yourself that this too shall pass. It will get better. Spring willl come. The soreness will leave. The legs will work again. The wheels will hum down the roadway again, because this too shall pass.
