Crashing on trainer

Only I could do this. I decide to spin maybe 20 minutes after my 5 mile treadmill run this AM. The bike has been on the cycleops fluid trainer the past 2 months riding it off and on. I occasionally top the tires off with air but other wise it just says in the trainer.

So get on and after 5 minutes I thought I would do about a minute harder to get heart rate up. Going along a BAM bike falls over the right out of the trainer. I looked down and could see the bolt was still locked in place butt somehow I must have move is some fashion to have the bike come out of the place the skewer clamped over. I was seated while pedaling, I never get out of the saddle on the trainer so crazy for sure.

I was ok but my wife yells at my in basement are you OK? I still do not exactly know what happen but I had to move brake back in place, straighten the saddle out, and took the wheel off and actually put in the truing stand and trued it. I built the wheels myself almost 4 years ago they have about 12000 miles and never have had to touch them until today.

Wow crashing in the basement on a trainer.............I was not wearing my helmet but I may need to start.

You are not alone. I purchased a Cycle Ops "Hammer" trainer to use with Zwift and Trainer Road. I set it up per instructions and had the rear QR on tight. the next morning I jumped on the bike without changing anything. The bike fell off with me aboard wiping out the chain stays on my old S Works Tarmac. I was so upset I purchased a new S Works Tarmac. The cost to repair the carbon chain stays was more than the value of the frame. So I am forced to ride a new bike with SI 2.

My rollers are looking better and better. Thirty-five years of intermittent use and, knock wooden head, I still haven't managed to fall down and go boom.

At least hour's was a real bike.

I was riding an upright stationary exercise bike at the rehab center of a local hospital. The Tech told me to stand and pedal. Never did that before. But, OK, if you say so. Cranked up the resistance and up I go.

Second rotation resistance went to zero and that leg went crashing down while the other went up. All this instantly and twistingly painfully.

I managed to get off the bike and do a few gentle movements to mitigate the damage.

Net result was that crash cost me a week off and set back the rehab I was there for.

BF Autocorrect is Stubborn

I wanted "your's". Autocorrect gave me "hours" and would not allow me to change it.

I keep a Fuji Supreme permanently on the trainer in the basement -- finally had to swap tires front to back as I'd worn out the rear. I have come very close to crashing when watching cycle racing while riding it. Trust me, when the camera is on a motorcycle following racers descending a mountain, you have to be pretty careful not to lean back and forth as they negotiate the turns!

Came off the rollers earlier this year. Normally it hurts, but this time I came off, tires hit the floor and I just stopped and had the chance to pull a foot out and that was it. No big deal. Happens at least once a year. Beats the heck out of a conventional fixed trainer.

If you were wearing ear buds you might have missed the tell tale signs that the bike was coming loose? Just kidding! Glad you are all right.

I guess as long as you don't get hit by a car while riding your trainer in the basement, things are okay.

Thank God for small miracles. "Yours" would have been the appropriate word. After all, we don't write their's" or "our's." "Your's" as a contraction would translate to "your is." *cringe*

If that were to happen, some people in A&S would blame the cyclist.

The god you thank must be a miniature with a small mind to be worried about punctuation in an online post.

And yet I wasn't the one trying to change "hours" to "our's", so I've got that going for me.

Gonna keep my fingers crossed, have not crashed yet. It did take me a couple a trys to get my bike securely fashioned to the trainer.

This is my wife and I's first year biking indoors on the trainers and its better than I thought it would be.

I have ridden my bike off of the kickr twice. Chromed horizontal dropouts don't work well with the supplied quick release. So I finally put a QR on there that has more compression capability. Really could have been worse, definitely could have ruined a dropout, if nothing else. I have ridden off of rollers a couple of times, it was no big deal either time. A lot of awkward floundering to get my footing.

I don't have a trainer here... I get too much riding on the road.

However, I've seen enough horror photos that I'd certainly use a second rate bike on the trainer, and not a $5000 carbon dream bike.

Look on the bright side - you didn't do it in front of 30 or 40 other cyclists on trainers. I've seen that!

Yup, wife (girlfriend at the time) called me up and said she crashed on her trainer. Whaaaat??? I say.
I go over there and sure enough the trainer end piece had split and bike came off causing the crash.
End caps that skewers fit into were made of cast pot metal. Not good.
Out to the garage I go, fire up the lathe and machine up some nice stainless steel ones. Mount them up and all is good. That was over 12 years ago. Trainer still works.

I'll admit to one crash off the rollers. Which explains why I set things up between a bed and a wall...
