Newsflash: If your kid has taken to assaulting others, be prepared for worse. Your 'special' little Johnny or Susie isn't getting away with violent behavior, and will likely be assaulted right back when they hurt others. Sorry.

Ha! Feel free to ride where you want, of course, but from all the hysteria and chest thumping in this thread you would think that MUPs are crime infested war zones or something. Simply not true.
I invite all interested in this thread to scroll up and watch Beanz video posted above. How can you not smile at that?

If your "corrective action" is working, you have nothing to worry about, because your kids won't be out making trouble. If your kids are trouble makers, I doubt your semantics would stop some bad-ass dude from knocking their teeth out.

For what it's worth I've encountered the odd uncontrolled child or dog, and the odd bonehead pedestrian who absolutely, positively refuses to give any ground at all (I usually come to a dead stop blocking the path as well as they have, to make the point). But for the most part I've found that if a pedestrian hears me coming they'll keep to one side, most dog walkers will call their dog to the side of the path, and most parents will keep their kid out of the way.
Violent situations aside, a lot of the time it seems to be what you're looking out for. If you expect trouble you'll remember the trouble and forget the exchanges without any trouble.
