There are a bunch of us... this is a link to the last "Age Realated" Poll I've seen here.

All the Arkansas cyclists I've met on this forum seem to be over 50.

I take that back, one is 48 I believe.

Curious as to why you might be surprised???

Are 50+'rs not common where you live? They are crawling all over the place around here.

JanMM 03-25-11 09:13 PM

I started riding on roads when I was 23...............I suppose at some point in the foreseeable future I will be able to look back at 50+ years of cycling. Will I still be able to listen to The Ramones at that point in the lifespan?

Retro Grouch 03-26-11 03:21 AM

The "Baby Boom" is defined as people born between '46 and '64. That puts us right in the midst of their qualifying for 50+.

xizangstan 03-26-11 04:36 AM

I was born in '46 and graduated from high school in '64.

It is reassuring to know I'm in good company, guys and gals. Crank on...

Yup. Plenty. But I only know of two that ride regular.

Floyd 03-26-11 01:12 PM

40-19 here ...that means next year I will b e10 above 5o and still loving the ride.

xizangstan 03-26-11 01:18 PM

Floyd - Do they REALLY have bikes in Central Kansas? I didn't think they had anything but farm tractors, horses and pickup trucks!

Floyd 03-26-11 01:23 PM

We got those too, I even have the 1951 international that my family bought the year I came into the world... My recumbents are used more though at this point. I do have a tractor too.

They're pretty thick here, too -- in more ways than one. And most couldn't pedal across town, much less something more challenging....

Once again, I post this as our anthem....

What's wrong with being in our 50's ? One of my grandfathers lived to be 101 so I figure I'm only half way there !:D

Hays, Kansas, is one of the Recumbent Bike centers of the world. RANS builds bikes there.

Maybe we should form our own secret society...
