Getting enough sleep is essential as well. When I get less than 7 hours of sleep a night, I want to snack more. I am ok with 6 1/2 hours, but less than that is not good.

That ideal bike weight is seen on pro riders, and, take a look, they just don't look healthy. I would not call it "ideal." Efficient, maybe.

There's a photo that pops up every now and then of one of the riders — a doper, I forget his name — that illustrates this well. I'm sure everyone has seen it.

Certainly someone of middle age needs more upper body strength than that kind of body formula allows.
