The April Fools Ride was the best yet

Months of work preparing, including an especially hectic last few days, has paid off for the Asylum City Psychlists in a very successful April Fools Ride. I only rode the initial 2.8 mile parade lap through town escorting the Mayor of Milledgeville on his only ride since the same one last year. I spent the rest of the day driving around the various routes making sure everything was going as it should. A ride director's job is never done. At least not until the last century riders finished and the signs and rest stop supplies were taken down and put away.

We had a total of 132 riders which sounds like nothing compared to many rides, but for our little town (and club) it was a monster event. By far the biggest in the 5 year history of the event. Only one rider had to be sagged in due to asthma issues. I'm waiting to hear feedback, but everyone I saw seemed to be happy. We took in a good profit to disburse for various bicycling advocacy purposes.

I'm looking forward to going to a ride next weekend that someone else can worry about running.

Good job and nice pictures. 132 riders is not bad at all. Hope this event keeps growing.

Way to go, BD!

Let's see...first you started the club, now you're the Ride Director of the club's biggest ride of the year. What's next?

Nice work, BD. To me, 132 riders is a good size for a ride. I've done multi thousand rider events and I prefer smaller ones.

That bamboo bike has an endearing Flintstones look. All that was missing was stone wheels.

Retirement. Next year I will make and mark the routes, print route sheets and maps. On event day I'll show up and ride. It's someone else's turn now.

Asylum City I lived in M'ville a couple of years in the 70's, the hospital was a fascinating place back then.

That is a great turnout BG! The weather looked to be just perfect as well. Your son looks to be a natural on the bike. Congratulations on a very successful event.

The post quoted came to us via a parallel universe in which bamboo bikes can exist. In out own orderly and well thought out universe, there can be no such devices as bamboo bikes. (I have no idea where I saw a bamboo bike.)

There was a bamboo bike in my photo set from the Ride to the Capitol. Maybe that was what you saw.
