A warm metric century from Monroe, GA

The Tony Serrano Ride metric century route was a very nice ride. Country roads with little traffic and long flat stretches and some mild hills. Over 500 riders meant I was seldom riding alone. I rode in a double paceline with a group of C4 club riders for a while, but dropped out after a few miles.

The first 40 miles or so was fast with a slight downhill trend and the light wind was often behind us. It was a little harder for the last 20 miles as the wind was mostly in our faces and the slight slope was predominantly uphill. It was mid 60s at the start and got into the low 80s by the end. At about mile 12 I had my first drops of sweat to drip off my chin onto the top tube of my new bike. Summer is coming. :p

The rest stop food was incredible. Teams of hard working volunteers had made a wide variety of homemade snacks to serve the riders. There were cookies, cakes, sandwiches, toothpicks with cold cuts, cheese and cherry tomatoes and figs covered in peanut butter (yummy).

Looks like a really nice ride! Love that countryside. OT question: which mirror are you using? I'm thinking of getting one for the Secteur.

Good thing it was a bit overcast if it was hot. Looks like a nice ride with a good turnout.
