Five day a week 16 mile round trip commute.
Weekends, 20-30 each day if we're busy, longer if not.
Centuries and doubles sometimes on the weekend
That last few years we've done supported touring with 60 miles a day average for a week.

It takes a while as I'm old and slow.

40-50 mile rides every Sat and Sunday on a flat trail. People in the vid are forum members.

When the gas prices rise, like they have, we'll stay local on Saturday to do some climbing. Anywhere from an 8 mile climb with 2200 ft to a 13 mile climb with 3200 ft. We save the 5,000ft climb for special occasions.

I like rides in the 25-40 mile range. Since the beginning of the year I've ridden about two out of three days and my average is just a bit over 29. This includes two longer rides of 77 and 80 miles.

Weekdays after work high 20's to mid 30 milers and weekends 40- 100 all rides solo and all pretty much non-stop.
All on the road but for maybe a quick shot back across county on the Rail Trail we have( 13 miles one way) but I am trying not to use that this year.
I have been invited to join the club ride this Wednesday and think I will try it out, 25 mile ride but 10 mile ride to get there. Should be interesting.

My wife and I typically ride 25-35 miles. Under 20 is uncommon as is over 40. I am a bit surprised to see that we are in the mainstream here. I somehow got the impression everybody was running out for 70-100 milers.

It varies quite a bit. My weekday rides during Daylight Saving Time are usually 25-35 miles, occasionally as short as 15 or as long as 45 miles. On weekends when I'm not at an event I'll ride anywhere from 35 to 75. At events it is almost always somewhere between 60 and 100 miles, give or take a few.

So, Doug tell us a bit about yourself. What sparks your interest in wanting to know how far others ride? Are you just getting started?

Since you qualified it, a non-event ride and I will assume you meant one not meant for training or just as a work out but for pure pleasure.
In thinking about that - those rides are rare for me. There is a ride I just love that is 85 miles along the Hudson river, I am usually just enjoying the view when I do that one. Then there is another loop in the Adirondacks I do that can range from 16 to 30 miles depending on how peppy I feel. But I guess the sweet spot for me is about 1.5 hours to 2 hours for pure pleasure.

Previous polls have shown that many of the riders here on the 50+ forum usually do 20-40 mile rides as their regular activity. But, they don't often post about those regular rides, giving a sort of unbalanced impression of the typical ride length. Folks who ride longer distances tend to post about them, or if a person who usually does 20-40 miles does do 60 or a century, they will be more prone to post about it. It's all good.

I ride 20 miles on my "daily ride" (which is four times a week), with running (4 miles, or perhaps more) in between. Weekends and some Tuesdays see me riding 45 - 60 miles. The "century season" is getting started so the weekend mileage is going to increase.

Club rides on Satuday are normally 40-50 miles. On Sundays I normally ride anywhere between 20 and 37 miles. When I have enough daylight to ride before work I get in between 11-13 miles. I dont really have an average ride, based upon all that.

For 8-9 months of the year I run a 5k 3 days a week before work.

Once the warm weather comes and i start riding regularly, i like to ride a minimum of 20 miles per ride, unless I do a couple of big hills, then i am satisfied with 17 or 18. I ride every other day as a rule. Most of my rides are between 20 and 30 miles. I get tired of the same old roads, as i have been living here in Billings, MT for twenty-five years. I've cycled the good roads hundreds of times, so I have to make an effort sometimes to go out for a ride for the exercise.

65 to 85 miles with an Einstein's Bagel as a turnaround point on some rides.

Typically, during our 'season' (roughly middle of March to sometime late November/into December):
1. Minimum (5-6 days a week/commute) 9 miles/day. Usually two or three of these rides are extended (on homeward leg) to around 15-20 miles.
2. Either Saturday or Sunday (sometimes both), a longer ride, minimum 30 miles -- usually around 45 or so.
3. Once a month, one of #2 becomes as close to 100 miles as I feel up to.
I ride alone; no set pace; like to explore/stop and look at ducks, plants, farmhouses, the river side etc. as the mood takes me.

I prefer rides under 30 miles.
Cycling with 54% oxygen transfer capacity (think cycling with one lung) anything beyond starts to erode the bodys ability to recoup.
Sence my riding style is :moderate out and 20+mph back and I cycle with a club the 30 mile limit doesn't overtax the muscles beyond the bodys ability to rebuild for the next ride.

Just interested, I suspected that most people rode much further and faster than me.
So it seems that a lot of cyclists ride similiar distances to myself and the main reason..... the pleasure of riding.
"Getting started"as of 57 years past.
Although with modern cycles and riding gear I would most wish to start all over again.

I guess I'm about average. Because of issues with my shoulder I limit my rides to 30 to 50 mile 3 to 4 days a week. If I go much further I experience pain in the shoulder joint. I learned that the hard way in the beginning of last yaer and it bothered me the rest of the year. The 4 month winter layoff helped and I'm pain free right now and have moderated the length of my rides to keep it that way.

I'm getting ready for a week-long ride in June, so am riding 40-50 miles every Saturday, followed by a 25-mile ride on Sunday. I plan to keep increasing my Saturday mileage each week up to 65-75 for the day, and maybe bump up the Sunday mileage as well. I also commute by bike 2-3 times per week, at 18 miles round trip each day.

Spring has finally arrived, so it does feel great to be back on the road bike after the winter (my winter commuter is a mtn bike). I also bought some new gear (shoes), and it feels nice to be trying out the new stuff.
