miles and miles of smiles

I'm up to 545 miles for 2011 which is a small number compared to the distance some other 50+ers have reported. Weather conditions finally allowing riding on a regular basis, so the miles are picking up, as is the fun.
How far have you ridden?
Are we having fun yet?

Way to go! It sucks when you're dying to get out and ride but the weather won't cooperate, regardless of the season. I decided to HTFU this year and ride when it was cold outside. Just when I get the hang of cool/cold weather riding, it's time got to acclimate to the heat. Tonight's ride brought my total mileage for this year to 824. I don't have a specific goal in mind for the year, but 3000-4000 miles should be doable.

At least 306; that is what I've measured on the road bike. I don't have a cyclocomputer on the mtn. bike which does see a bit of use, nor have I counted all the hours on the stationary trainer or the rollers indoors. Still, I do seem to have enjoyed pretty much every single mile thus far.

I'm with DF - so far more smiles than miles, but as I start into serious training that will change

As usually happens this time of year, I haven't ridden as far as I would have liked. I've made up for it by adding a weight penalty so that the miles involve more work, at least when riding uphill. When our tandem finally comes back from its vacation I will be regularly heading out to greet the bears between here and the coast. I think my wife is expecting at least two trips to the coast per month.

Fifteen weeks of 2011, five workdays per week, twenty mile round trip = 1,500 miles. There were a few holidays and days I worked at home, so figure 1,400. The moonlight on the snow caused a lot of smiles, but so do the trees that make me feel I'm riding through a green tunnel.

I'm just getting started. This time of year, only about 1/2 the weekends are suitable for riding. Wind-driven rain at 40F just plain sucks. I've even gotten in a couple of evening rides already! I'm sitting at a whopping 166 miles so far.

I'm staying pretty even on a month to month basis with 3400 (s)miles so far in 2011 (I see PaulH most mornings around Shirlington). A warm February helped since it was short on days.

Proud to say 1110 miles. I usually have fewer miles than others, but I'm training for a century on May 1. I set weekly goals with my Garmin, and I can't bear to fall short.

Only 400+ miles this year.

I rode home from work this morning in 32* temps with a 15 to 20 mph headwind coming in off the lake. I still have not thawed out and that was 15 hours ago!! I was sooooo cooooold!!!

I drove in tonight, I think I have become a wimp!!

Long live wimpdom!!!!!

Sounds as if Winter is just now starting to leave Northern parts of the country. Not to mention Canada.
