Pulled the triggertoday
On a set of Neuvation R28 SL wheels. Been thinking about it for a while.. They're running an offer now with free shipping thru the 10th. Had to take advantage of it. I'll post my impressions when I get them and ride them for a while.

Don't know the Neuvation wheels so a your impressions will help once you use them. Let us know what the previous wheels were as well so we can get the correct comparison.
I went from OM wheels to handbuilts early in my riding and I just don't like OM wheels. |
Now have about 150 miles on the new wheels, and while I'm sure there is some placebo effect, I'm liking them. Weather has been sucky with a lot of wind, so a little hard to compare. They do seem to have more pop to them and seem easier on hills. One semi-objective test, one of my rides has a relatively steep 1/2 mile downhill. I spin out, so I just tuck and enjoy the ride. I got up to 39 mph on the new wheels, which is faster than I've gotten before. The old wheels were stock Alex AT 450 with Tiagra hubs that came with the bike. Heavy, but I must say durable. I had close to 10,000 miles on them with no problems. I think the new wheels are about 1.5 lbs lighter (~2200 grams v 1520).

I did not realise that you still had a stock wheels on the bike but your observation on the downhill speed is the same as I found. Speed went up on the downhill by a lot- Corners at speed became curves and average sped over a 30 mile ride went up by 2mph. And on top of that- The lightness of them gives an easier time uphill.
I have always said thet I do not like stock wheels and you have just confirmed the reasons why. Just enjoy them now. |

I still would like to know the weight on your handbuilts. I went with my DA wheels because I got a great deal and because most of the builders in my area would build me a 1800 gram wheel for about the same price as a set of Mavic Ksyrium SLs. The Dura Ace wheels have proven to be pretty dependable.
