How to lube your bike!
I heard my wife yelling at my 2 year old grandson down in the garage and went to check out the co-motion. He somehow got hold of a 5 quart jug of engine oil for the tractor and proceeded to pour about a quart of it all over his tricycle. What a mess.
Did not realize that the oil jug does not have a kiddie proof cap. When I asked him what he thought he was doing he replied "My bike queaked". Pretty hard to argue with that logic just needs to improve his wrenching skills. Got it all cleaned up and he is back on the road(driveway). |
Little feller was probably lucky he was a grandson instead of just a son. My boys were that age they took the fish for a walk and finger nail polished the TV's. They got in a bit of trouble over that one.

If a little bit is good, then a hell of a lot is a whole lot better.

That's what we need more of! A man of action! He had a problem, didn't complain, didn't expect somebody to solve it for him. He found a solution, took action, and fixed his issue. AMERICA NEED MORE OF THAT!!! Strong, confidant, decisive, forward thinking young men.
You got a queak, you take care of it. You got a problem with that? Didn't think so. Of course he should have also learned, you make a mess you queen it up! |
Good story now let me go in my garage and move my oil up a few shelf's so my grandkids don't get any ideas of their own.
|
How another takes care of his ride is his bizness. We all know how a litlle queak can just drive you kraze.hmm i wonder how 10-30 would work?
|
Squeak + oil = no squeak. Pretty smart little kid.
|
NOS88, it's queak not squeak, get it right, eh. :D
|
I think that you should think up a new screen name and let your grandson have the one you are using now.
|
Hope he likes the color of the bike....

And about making him clean it up. I would have but it seemed at the time that would result in oil being spread over most of the garage floor and his clothes. As it was I contained it to a smaller area. |
Yep, I love it. Somebody who just sees a problem and dives right in to fix it.
Besides, it could have been worse. A can of spray lube or better still, a can of grease would have made a real mess. |
Reminds me of when my sister got her first car and pulled into the service station and ask the attendant to oil her front tire. When he ask why her tire needed oiling, she said it squeaked.
|
The usual mantra for that first car was "Fill the oil and check the gas".
|
Look out Sheldon Brown; this little guy can fix a bike at only two years old!! Maybe next year he will equip his trike with SPDs and a compact crank.
