Congrats on the win. And they are even going to fit ya! Wow. That's a raffle worth winning. The only thing my name has ever been picked for is jury duty. ;-)

Actually, I go on Wednesday afternoon to be measured for a bike they will order in my size, I don't expect to find the fitting included in the win. In my book, it is still a raffle worth winning!
By the way, it is better to have your name called for jury duty than for an indictment!

Congratulations Miss K! Never hurts to have N+1. Maybe its time to get yourself by a casino and see what else you can snap up.

on the spare bike!
As a matter of fact, I will be at a casino this weekend--to see a show. I can easily resist a stop at a gaming table. I am happy to give my money to a charity with a shot at winning a prize, but I will be doggone if I will give my money to Donald Trump!

Well R_Z, much to my surprise and delight, the fitting WAS included in the win! In fact, the BSG even instructed me to put some miles on it and come back for any necessary adjustments!!!! So here's the pix (you can see my winning tickets in my hand!)

Congrats, Miss Kenton.

Now, I realize I'm old and stupid, but can someone explain the "N + 1" business? What is that in reference to? I thought it was some sort of strange New York publication.

Thank you. As for N+1 Here is the definitive explanation from Allegheny Jet:

The inherent problem with N+1 is that as soon as you acquire the +1, it becomes part of the N, leaving you looking for the next +1.

Miss K, just getting back to this thread. I see the new bike has eyelets for a rack and fenders. Give those a think.

Especially this year, fenders help get out on the bike earlier after a rainshower. A rack gives you a place to carry stuff on longer, self-supported rides or (gasp!) rides to the store or (nudge, nudge) the library.

Last night, besides the usual week's worth of work clothes (and a towel, danged rain) for the laundry, we brought home six hardcover novels for the four-day weekend.

They're upgrading our Circ software (from CARL Solution to CARL-X) this weekend, so all the libraries are closed Friday through Monday. OTOH, oh joy! Four days worth of bookdrop to discharge on Tuesday! (And all the Internet addicts in withdrawal.)

What a cool story!

I won a big flat screen tv in '06, before we subscribed to cable.

I'd much rather have won a bike. Enjoy the ride!

You know, tsl, the rack is an excellent idea! I could make that my errand bike! Thanks for that!
Ah, the price we library folk pay for a long weekend: the deluge of newspapers to be checked in, the stacks of ILL requests to be processed and the stampede of Internuts-- you can find their greasy fingerprints on the glass front doors as they tried to claw their way in!

Good for you.Wonderful.

Oh, and

Was it a particular bike on offer, or your choice to a given value?

I'm just projecting out here, but I have a big hankering for the grey and orange single speed District with the carbon belt

I hope it's a joy to you, whatever it is

Thank you, WOB. The BSG said I could take an equal value bike or pimp up my old ride with a set of carbon wheels, however, based on my abilities and my old ride, carbon wheels would be "the tail wagging the dog."

Thank you. A flat screen TV as a prize is not so shabby! I'm glad to have won a bike, too. It's the only big prize I've ever won and that it's a bike---Woot!Woot! Any plans to visit NJ this year?

I think that was their plan! I bought a new jersey and a "Road Morph" frame pump--but I had a gift certificate--so, unless the pump doesn't work well, the wine was just a bonus!

Ahhh! It all becomes so clear to me...

So, my own personal "N + 1" would be my The Gunnar street dog I own, plus the vintage, early-80s Trek I would like to own. (Smacks self in face for now buying one when had chance..)
