Buddy,

I am sorry to hear about the heart attack, but glad you received timely medical attention which kept the damage to a minimum. Get well soon.

We 50+ riders always should keep in mind that heart disease continues to be the # 1 cause of death in the United States. Regular exercise like riding a bike helps, but we have to watch our diets, too. I make certain to get a yearly physical exam with my family physician, and I make certain I go over the results of my blood test (full lipid profile) line-by-line with my doc to make certain I am on the right track. I don't want to end up like one of my favorite cousins who died from a massive heart attack at the age of 52 a couple of years ago.

Good story with good outcome! WTG!
If you might be having a heart attack, most important thing is to get EMS to you as soon as possible. An EKG will tell them what is going on and where you need to go for treatment. Not every hospital can effectively treat ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), for instance, which requires almost-immediate intervention to clear the blockage.
