For Us Skinheads
I don't shave my head but I'm about as close to bald on top as you can get. So, I picked up a Halo white moisture-wicking skull cap to wear under the helmet so I don't have to use sunscreen on my head. Anybody else do this? Actually I haven't ridden with the cap and helmet yet - I'm basically riding around the neighborhood/area trying to get used to cycling again and am just wearing an old Campy hat to protect my head from sunburn. I was surprised how fast the old familiar ways come back - I was spinning out at 90 right away and the gear changes came automatically. I guess you never forget things like this as well as 'road awareness' of motor vehicles, dogs, loose gravel, etc. I was a club member in the '80s for a few years.

I always ride with a skullcap and I'm not bald. Without it, sweat is running all over my glasses 20 minutes into the ride.

I use a Headsweats skullcap almost year-round under my helmet and on top of my hair. Is the Halo skullcap SPF-rated? If not, an almost-bald head might need sunscreen in addition to the Halo.

I have started wearing a skullcap under my helmet because of both sweat and sun. (A Celt living at 33 degrees latitude must be careful.)

I've been wearing bandanas under my helmets for as long as I can remember. The first one I picked up after my first long tour as a sort of souvenir. It was being sold in aid of a cancer charity for kids. And I have added to the collection every couple of years when I seen the Canteen bandanas on sale, so I have around 12 of them, including the original blue one. They also have proved to be effective in winter for me.

The wife bought me some nightcaps, kind of as a joke, because I was complaining that my head got cold when I slept. They are just plain, stretchy cotton and they work great under the helmet. My scalp is super oily and if I don't wear something washable under my helmet it will die an early, funkified death. And it won't smell pretty.

Used them for years - skin cancer occurs on the head, and sweat is not fun in the eyes. My wife claims I should wash them once in a while. Occasionally she sneaks them into the washer. Also useful for added winter warmth.

I'm not bald but wear a bandana in the warm months. Helps with sweat management and keeps the top of my head from getting burned.

Never heard of the skullcaps before, interesting. Here, in Florida, it gets HOT and I've been wearing a sweatband to keep sweat out of my eyes. When it's really hot, I have to stop every 30-45 min to wring them out because they get saturated.

I have worn my Cinelli Racewear skullcap under my helmet for years. It does keep my bald head from burning and keeps all that sweat out of my eyes. I won't leave home without it!

It's my evap cooler in the Arizona desert. On hot days I pour a little water on the head and the breeze evaporates the water and cools me off. I do the same on my shoulders and legs too. I am careful plan my water stops as to not to run out.
