N+???

I wasn't thinking of an old steel bike just yet. My wife was questioning why we have 5 bikes for two people so I was keeping a low profile. Then a friend of mine mentioned he had one of these that I should take on as a project.

Today I pushed the frame into the shed. It needs some work but it looks a lot like the picture I posted. It was dark by the time I got all the parts together and stored but it looks like I have everything but a set of chaines. It could use better saddles, I got the origional Schwinn comfort molded saddles. There is an extra set of drop bars and levers but I think I will attempt to restore the thing. Need to pull the bottom brackets off and replace the bearings I am sure. But how does this happen and what N+ should I call it?

I thought of that after I posted. The spare parts box sure gets bigger every season.

It's still just n+1 but, since it's a tandem, it should go against your wife's quota.

Got my tandem 3 years ago and it was a wreck. What makes my tandem special was that it was a Quality wreck: a Schwinn Duo Sport tandem.

Fixing a tandem is fun, makes working on a single bike a toy in comparison. Get some good chains on that thing and grease all bearings, almost makes it a new bike.
