Officially back in the saddle again
Went out last Sat to do 10. Did 12.7
Felt OK, went Mon. Did 11.5 Took Tues and Wed off. Had an Ortho followup on Thurs. Told the Dr. where I was at. He said I'm progressing pretty much as expected. Progress-ING? Dr. says it'll be the end of July until I am fully recovered. End of July. 3 months, total, to get over this little oops. It could have been so much, much worse. I am lucky Told the Dr I started riding again. Nothing too serious. Is that OK? Absolutely, he said, and sent me on my way. Recommended I build up my core. I took it as a prescription, came home, changed, and did another 11 miles. Went out again today. Upped the pace a little. Legs just felt tired before, now the quads are barking a little. Good :D So, in week, I've come back and put it, like, 45 miles. I am happy. |
Easy does it... I'm glad you are recovering!

I bet you will progress faster since you are back to riding with the Dr's okay. As said above ^^^^^ easy does it!

Recommended I build up my core. I do a lot of core exercises and have found them very useful. My posture has improved, as has my general bicycling strength. One of the things I do daily is planks - I now do 90 seconds planks. I do bridges, pushups, etc. The planks are especially good. Sometimes I do a two minute plank. |
I didn't know you were out of action. Glad you're back.
|
Good for you, in a few hundred miles you'll be good as new.

Good to hear! I was out for about as long (Feb-April'ish) and wow did it cost me. You'll be back in good form in no time. Good luck. Recovery does take a lot longer than you think.

Good news that the progression remains positive. Soon this will be a distant memory.

What are planks & bridges ??
http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_G5WyWDMWS6...k-exercise.jpg Bridges: http://www.ab-core-and-stomach-exerc...xercises-2.jpg There are lots of variations, such as side planks, bridges without the fitness ball, one-legged bridges, etc. Excellent for core muscles, needed for good support while bicycling. Bridges are important to build the hip flexors, which tend to get weak while bicycling as the quaads get larger, creating an imbalance. |
SaiKaiTai,
