Preparing for the next century ride

I'm 60yrs old and had been cycling for about 5 years.Last week I rode a century ride with a time of 5hrs45mins.
This century ride is a yearly event complete with marshal, timing chips on the bike and water stations.I'll be joining again next year and hope to get a better time. Can anyone suggest a training plan to get a better time.I'm hoping to reduce my time by 30 minutes.
Will age be a factor?
I know the ride is one year away but it's never too early to plan ^_^

+1. Whatever you did to prepare for this year should serve as a base. Then add progressively longer group rides with faster riders.
