Well, It's Official...
My 1961 Schwinn 5 speed Corvette and I will celebrate our 50th birthday next week (I on the 25th and the bike on the 28th) Fortunately we are both holding up very well - although the Corvette has had alot of "work" done and hence looks better than I!
Good to be here, no significant health issues and looking forward to the beginning of this next half of my life (and legitimately being able to post on this section of the forum) |
Pics are in order!
Congrats on holding on to a great bike. |
Welcome aboard. And, yes, photos are in order.

Corvettes are old hat. You need on of these to be eligible for the new cool. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tdhw-...eature=related

Cool looking bike, but I hope you have a good flat route picked out for your "ride your age" ride next week. 50 miles of hills on a cruiser might be a rough day. ;)
|
Actually wouldn't he be in line to do TWO brithday rides, one for him and one for the bike? :D: That wouldn't be such a bad thing as it would mean double Pie. By the way, Gee, you haven't expressed your opinion as to the best type/flavour of Pie.

As for the 50 miles - I have done 46 on my Gary Fisher HKEK and agree that 50 miles on a 50+lb 5 speed cruiser with a vinyl saddle (albeit sprung) would not be a great deal of fun! As for Pie - unless this is some secret, middle aged society code word, lol - I favor Key Lime... |
Welcome & an early Happy 50th Birthday!
|
Wow! That's a truckload of Schwinn electro-forgery listed in your sig!
My ninth birthday present was a 1959 Corvette. Not unlike my next bike, a 1973 Continental, it withstood semi-abusive riding without breaking down. I don't miss 'em. Welcome! |
