WOW what a slide show. I wish I were there. On second thought, it looked pretty cold at times, maybe not. Just kidding, it looked like a lot of fun. Thanks for the ride.

Bicycle Tour of Colorado - you should do either RTR or BTC as a goal. Training for it will get you in bicycling shape real fast.

Loveland, CO is a really nice little tourist town. I used to go there all the time when I was stationed in Cheyenne. I also had a summer job as a guide at one of the riding stables for one summer. That was a great way to spend a day, but not as much fun as on a bike.

And.... Great pics.

Thanks for the great pics. We greatly enjoy Cottonwood Pass, and have ridden in Leadville.

Note: In case anyone is confused, Loveland town and Loveland Pass are two entirely different places, the town being in the plains at the foot of the Big Thompson River, and the Pass being way up in the mountains between Georgetown and Keystone/Frisco/Silverthorne.

I still can't quite get up the courage to stash the Prince in my bike box and cinch up the straps.....I saw a few Pinarello's though! My older Trek 5900 is a really smooth and reliable ride. The HED wheels held up really well-for two years in a row. Even on that darn gravel road on Cottonwood Pass. Plus I just leave it laying around and don't worry about someone taking off with it.

I really enjoyed both your sets of slides. You had a bit more severe weather than we had in MT. Man, I sure do love bike travel.

great pics!

I too rode the BTC but am running around the Western US for 3 more weeks before I get home to post my pics. I'm in Tucson AZ right now and what a great bike town....but....it's 90 degrees @ 8am! Tomorrow I'm actually going out at 5 am for a 40 miler. Anyways, thanks so much for sharing, great memories! (except my freezing tent).

We did. I think our off day was a Thursday?? Where were you staying? We were supposed to ride in and out of the GS on the Canyon Trail but it was underwater so we left our bikes in Gypsum and they bused us to Glenwood Springs. My brother and I played golf at the local 9 hole course-we had to walk about a mile up a steep hill from the bus stop. We also did the Tram/Cavern thing.

I upgraded my sleeping bag from last year so I was fine with the cold nights this year. Did you make it all the way from Estes to Granby?

Tucson--my daughter just moved back from there to NC-love the place. Be sure and climb Mt Lemmon!

Your pictures are outstanding! I'd like to suggest that every BF50 photo essay feature a picture of the poster holding their bike aloft. It adds great deal of spirit to the post! Nice job!

Yes, I was one of the lucky ones that decended (before they decided to hold people back)at 40 mph in the frozen rain and couldn't even apply the brakes due to numb fingers! how about you?

Re: Mt Lemmon, drove it today and decided to do a desert ride in morning 1st....then "the mount" the next day....what a long hill that's gonna be!

Yeah my brother and I both made it. I knew better than to stop so just plowed ahead all the way to the last rest stop. I rode with a group from there to the High School and got terribly soaked and dirty from the rooster tails.

Get an early start on Mt Lemmon and you'll really enjoy it.

We were at the Ramada. We weren't part of the ride, we were on the return leg from an Idaho trip to ride the trail of the Hiawatha and Coeur d'Alenes, and decided to stop in and ride the Rio Grande Trail up to Aspen. Got into town and there's all these tents, and peeps walking around with wrist bands on. On the trail, we had several walkers "yell" at us for not "taking the day off". Wish I would've known you were in the mix, I would've bought you a beer...

Just got back from a 35 miler....my motel to "old spainish trail" then the Cactus Forest trail loop, what a road into the Saguaro wilderness! I'm gonna love coming back here in the winter to visit my college attending daughter (and ride!).
