Mileage logging

Let's see just how far we ride in September. Log your miles for the month in your orginal post by hiting the reply button at the bottom of the past. Just for information purposes; if one rides 7.6 miles 20 days out of the month one will amass 150 miles. So lets just see what us old folks can do!!

If you want to state a goal that is great; if not just log your miles in the saddle!

This needs to be a sticky, I'm not going to set a goal, because I have a couple of trips to go on for my job. But I'll certainly try to make us old guys shine. Did 21 tonight, tried to do it as hard as I could, 1.3 hrs. 16.4 or so MPH average. It will be easy to do for me with my Cat Eye computer. It keeps the miles totaled. (Bought the bike with 630 mi on it) so everything after that is MINE! LOL..

It has 782.1 on it right now and tomorrow is Sept 1st.

Well, not quite. It's already 1 September in Australia and other "more advanced" parts of the world. In fact, about 3.05 in the afternoon, Australian Eastern Standard Time. So, conceivably, there could be an Australian 50+ poster with distance already on the board.

I don't track mileage...in fact I don't think I have a single bike with a computer/odometer/speedometer on it. I just ride. However based on the law of averages and previous experience I would guess somewhere around 200 miles give or take 20.

My goal is 600 miles. I ended last month with 582, due in large part to an earthquake and hurricane taking a few days of riding out of the calendar. The 600 mile goal for Sept. will be a challenge because I start teaching three classes, all on Saturday this semester, and the days growing shorter. But, we'll see.

Sorry, tracking mileage and having mileage goals detract markedly and remarkably from why I ride a bicycle. However, I do estimate mileage - just for the heck of it - and right now I am at about 125 miles per week. But, that can change, as I also swim, walk and do other aerobic and resistance activities. So, I won't be joining you, but if tracking mileage turns you on - go for it!!

My goal is 600+ per month. Last month I did a loaded tour in Montana and ended with 800 miles for the month.

Some of you have more free time than I or ride twice as fast! 600 mi/month; how? I understand the tour thing but just day in day out; how? After thinking that is 20 mi/day/30 days a month or 30 mi/day/20 days a month

I'm with you there... I just go out and ride three or four times a week and enjoy it. I have no idea what distance I do in any given time period. Maybe I should track it just for fun. The only thing I track is distance per trip just to get a rough idea of how my endurance is increasing.

Day in day out I tend to ride at least 50 miles both weekend days, and then at least 20 miles three other days a week.
Unless the weather sucks, and then my day in day out routine gets completely shot to hell.

April 23 to date, 5897 miles!

Over 1600 was in July!

A family situation has put an end to my bike
riding for the most part. Maybe 5 to 10 miles
a couple times a week at best.
