What is your toughest bad diet item to kick?

For me its a tie between two items. First, peanut M&M's with a diet coke. Second, Tortilla chips with hot-sauce at the Mexican Restaurant. Haven't had any of this for the past couple months but I'm like an addict when it comes to this stuff. One day at a time...

Milky Ways, Cheezits, hamburgers, cokes, Hershey bars, pie (I realize this is heresy on 50+) etc.

Little by little, I have been able to get away from these things. Once in a while, I'll slip up, but thus far, I'm able to burn it off in a day or two.

chips, ice cream, cookies....
Riding 90 - 100 miles a week keeps my weight stable and gets me into better and better shape.

Those last 10 pounds ? Well, that's another problem.

Grits with sausage gravy.

Every day I take my breakfast to work and eat it right when I get there.. Oat cereal with plain yogurt and seasonal fruit. At break time I go to the cafeteria to get a glass of unsweetened tea. I usually arrive after most of the food is gone, but sometimes, especially if I've been riding a lot, I'll get a bowl of grits. Sometimes I'll treat myself by adding a spoon of the gravy with chunks of sausage they serve (It is an extremely health unfriendly cafeteria). This is fine as long as I am riding frequently, but it seems that during times when I ride the least for whatever reason, I am the most tempted to splurge on the greasy stuff.

chips and salsa. My mind reels when I read the nutritional information on the bag and remind myself that a "serving" is about 8 chips and it has about 250 calories. But do I eat merely 8 chips? Noooo... It amazes me that so many of my predinner snacks have had much greater caloric content then my entire dinner.

I don't read the nutrition info; I just eat and ride. Or ride and eat. And not all the time...just every so often I crave salt, and tortilla chips fit the craving. No salsa, no guac, just chips and salt.

I have solved my chips and salsa at the Mexican Restaurant dilemma. I realize its the salsa I really like, so the chips go untouched and I spoon the salsa. Weird; I know, but I like the salsa!

Bakery stuff, from donuts to cookies; and pizza. Everything else out there that's unhealthy I can easily take a pass on. But these things kill me.

Sugar and Fat.

Seems like my body knows infinite ways to get those two. If I cut off one source, it finds another.

+1 But only when they are fresh out of the oven. Never cold or off a street cart. There are three places that bake them within a mile of my home!

Pasta and rice dishes are my last hurdles to cross. I think they are the reason why I can't seem to get those last 10 pounds off my body. The rice, I can probably figure out a way to overcome, but I'm Italian and the pasta, well..........

My weakness is sugary cookies. I get the ones that are minimally processed and don't have the ingredients that are hard to pronounce. But even so, if I'd didn't exercise self control I could eat box after box of them...

I have no trouble eating healthily. Seriously, food is no problem, I live mainly on fruit, vegetables and fish. And I'd much rather drink green tea than soda. If it weren't for the 700 or so calories per day in my bottle of wine, I'd be built like Bradley Wiggins. LOL
