Does your nose run?
I've noticed that about 10 miles or so into a 30 mile ride my nose will start to run. It's not a cold or allergies. Its just a slight drip that makes me want to stop and blow my nose.
My theory is that the wind or huffing an puffing I'm doing is causing me to take more air than normal in through my nose and that causes it to water.
Does anyone else experience the same thing? More importantly, is the a 'cure'?
Thanks,
Spud

I have this problem all the time. Sometimes its caused by whatever is beginning to bloom. Quercetin helps. Sometimes its just from air pollution.

I experience the same thing, although more so in colder weather. When it cools down, it's time to pack some kleenex!

Same problem with me, I have been using Breath Rite strips, they actually do help open things up and I don't run as much.

Post nasal drip pretty much all the time when it is cool. Gets worse when it is cold. Been a life-long "problem" for me.

I also do two-thirds of a triathlon all winter long (when I cycle my nose runs). I carry a handkerchief to save my gloves and sleeves; I never did care for the snot rocket approach.

State of my knees- no running when out.
Nose never runs but congestion builds up and Time to make certain no- one is following too close.

I take a Zertex before I do a ride of 30 miles or more. By the time I am ready to ride, the Zertex has kicked in and I stay drip free the entire ride. Another thing you can use is Benedryl, but that can cause drowsiness. It's the main ingredient in OTC sleep aids, so don't use it if it effects you that way. As with anything else, check with your doctor to see if these meds will interfere with anything you are currently taking. Damn, did that just sound like a commercial?

Only in the spring or if a slight cold hits. And when it does, just be sure to wipe down the bike real well post-ride if you have post-nasal.

I started carrying a bandana a few summers ago to wipe my face (in the coastal area I live sweat does not evaporate, it accumulates) and it has now become an essential year round bike accessory. During the cold months it's definitely a nose wipe if I've got a "leaky" nose.
At any time it can be useful for wiping dirty hands and I imagine if I were to hurt my self (it's been a while so knock wood) it could serve as a bandage. I guess it would work to flag down help if needed too.
But when it's warm it's really useful. I'll lay it out before my ride and line up some ice cubes in the center along the diagonal, fold it in half and roll it up. Then I'll tie it around my neck and as the ice melts it will give a nice cool for about 20 to 30 minutes. Then it will still work to wipe my face and with a squirt of water continue to help cool me.

I am stunned to hear all this about carrying kleenex. On a bicycle? Why bother? And what do you do when it's raining, wipe with wet kleenex?
Too complicated. Put a finger up to a nostril and blast away with the other. Repeat as needed.

In the summer - no. In the winter - like a faucet. Solution - wipe on back of glove and wash. Snot rocket advocated by many seems to decorate my arm and sholder - sorry for too much information.
