Gnarly Old Dudes
 

In Summit County, Colorado there are two groups of over 60 riders that ride the most difficult rides and ski the toughest runs and backcountry.

I know Don of the roadie group and Wayne of the mountain bike group best. Some ride with both groups.

Rode, or at least started a ride with the roadie group one day. I think they were all over 65.

They rode the Triple Bypass. Now they do the route on their own.
Their usual rides would leave most twenty years olds in the dust.

The local youngsters, in their twenties and thirties, have dubbed them the Gnarly Old Dudes, aka Gods.
Wish I could keep up with them.

Keep in mind that the lowest elevation in Summit County is about 8,000 feet, and the bike paths and passes go up to over 11,000 feet.

I wouldn't even try to ride with those guys.

How do you ask an old timer a question with out being disrespectful? I mean do these old timers that have been riding for ever still have fully functioning equipment? I will admit it, I fear getting old and the junk be retired to the junk yard.

I do not see cycling having any ill effects on sexual performance at the younger and middle age, If anything the harder I train the longer my wife gets to enjoy my hard work. I just wonder does the higher physical activities of our senior riders improve on or eliminate the normal trend of decreased sexual performance associated with age in the general public? How do your senior spouses feel about the issue,

Out here there is a group of gnarly old dudes who call themselves the ADO gang, which stands for All Day Ordeal. They do double centuries, (just the tough ones), and have long rides in the mountains. Their leader, who is over 70, has over 50 doubles and couldn't be any nicer.
They are not especially fast but they will grind an unsuspecting rider down.
