First ride for Ross since his eye op so a gentle ride for coffee and Pie. Now I know I ride on back roads and this is not a special lens- but this is the main route down to Pevensey. Never realised how narrow it is

We had decided to go just 20 miles but in the middle of Pevensey is a cafe that does a good cheap breakfast. Egg- Bacon and toast with coffee for $5 and it was welcomed. No pie and no pics. Decided to take in a hill on the way back so back up to Herstmoncieux. not much of a hill but it did go upwards a bit but decided to show Mick what Offroading is like. A Very gentle Singletrack that is smooth and dry and we passed by the Observatory

Back home and round to Martyns for refreshments. He makes some stuff he calls Cider. I call it vinegar with an apple taste- but 25 miles covered- a good breakfast and first taste of offroad for Mick

Nice pictures, Stapfam! Some of those cheap breakfasts are the best, aren't they? I'm glad to hear Ross is back in the saddle.

Nice scenery... I like the path, seems like a very enjoyable ride. Forgive me; but who is Ross?

Ross is my Son-in-Law--Who seems to be medically challenged at present. He has just had a Cornea Transplant that caused a severe problem with the medication he was on. And he keeps hitting things-He says things hitting him-On his commute to work. Still waiting for funds to be made available so I can rebuild his Road bike after a Car Hit? Him.

If Ross can now see well enough to ride then more power to him! We don't know (and shouldn't ask, so I'm not) what the cornea transplant was all about but it sounds like a real success story.

Oh; I see. Praying that Ross recovers quickly.

Ross had Kerataconus Which basically is a deformation of the Cornea. He has had it for years and had to wear Contact lens to keep the Cornea in shape. The Op went fine but he was put on very heavy Steroids for a while and they affected him greatly- Gave him depression and anger in big doses. He was a right Basket to be with for a week or so but now off them as the cornea is not rejecting.

But It has not stopped his competitive edge. He is another rider that I cannot ride with . He was fine sunday till another rider went past us. He had to chase him down even though he was on a mountain bike and the other rider was a FIT club rider just out for a quick 50 miler doing a few slopes.
