Sometimes it's well intended, and sometimes you just have to laugh. The other day, my mom, who's 90, was in a giant drug mart, cruising the cookie aisle for her favorite British treat, Walker's shortbread. A young clerk asked if he could help. "I'm looking for Walker's," she said.
"Oh," he said in all sincerity. "We don't sell walkers here. You have to go to the mobility aids shop next door."

+100!

My bank has this club for people who are 50 and over, and who have at least twenty five grand on deposit with them. They have lots of activities, mostly stuff I call "old people stuff".

This includes frequent trips to the casinos in Connecticut. Yeah, that's just what I want to do. :notamused: This, along with trips to look at the mansions in Newport, RI. Huh?
No? How about a narrated bus tour of the finger lakes region of NY?
Thanks, but no thanks.

Miss Kenton, Do I understand correctly? There is an actual TV ad that features a smartly dressed business woman of about 50, and it was for Depends?
Double not amused. :notamused: :notamused:

Yes, Trackhub, you have it right. I wonder what the message was? "She's attractive, she's successful, she's over 50, so no doubt, pees her pants!":notamused:

Incidentally, while I am fortunate enough to have retained full control over my bladder, even when I sneeze, I would be very interested in seeing the mansions at Newport, (preferably by bike and not motor coach.):)

Stereotypes, accurate or not, have always been been with us, especially as a feature of TV commercials. The best way to fight the wrong ones is to be a great counter-example!

I feel sorry for the musicians and motorcyclists nearing 50. According to the ads, they all require Flowmax, Viagra and mens Depends.

All at the same time? That would be most interesting, but I don't think I would want to see it!!!!

I am not sure, but I think I got the order right too.

The media is there for brainwashing. That can be at many levels. Mere suggestion to hard-core political agenda. I find as you get older, HOPEFULLY you figure that out.
I've taken the past few years to watch how men specifically are portrayed. I watch and think "now, if the roles reversed how would people react". If you watch closely, look to see how many times a man is hit by a woman. Look for it. It happens all the time. Now, if it were reversed there would be hell to pay.

A friend of mine turned 60 a couple years ago and he decided to take Viagra just to see how it would affect him. So, he and his wife go to the mall and he has an erection that he can't hide when he's in the middle of the mall. He had to go scurrying back to the parking lot to find his car to avoid embarrassment and/or arrest. :)

Advertisers know who they can marginalize. Want a dumb character, pick a man, want him out of touch, make him middle aged, want him pathetic, add bald and plump.

Unless "go to the mall" is a euphemism I am not familiar with, taking Viagra and then choosing to go to the mall with your wife may indicate a problem not resolved by ingesting a little blue pill! ;)

Dudley, Dudley, Dudley!

eu·phe·mism   [yoo-fuh-miz-uhm]
noun 1.the substitution of a mild, indirect, or vague expression for one thought to be offensive, harsh, or blunt.
:rolleyes::)

Although, some wives may consider Euthanasia should their husbands take them to the mall after taking Viagra.

I worked for a pharma company and one of the new products was to treat low T in men. I laughed when the female executives suggested they poll wives to see if this really was a problem.

:roflmao2: :roflmao2: :roflmao2: You're right! What's the ad that involves a middle aged, admiring a beautiful sunset,, and they are sitting in bathtubs?

Remember the old Volvo ads, which always showed volvos going off bridges and into brick walls? Man, those things crash easily.

I believe that would be Cialis. But wouldn't you think they'd both want to be in the same bathtub?
