First group ride.

Today, I went on my first group ride with some bike club members. I had met one of the members on my commute in the morning. No, they weren't commuting, but they did invite me to one of their rides, and they told me they would have some newbies riding too...Well, that was right down my alley.

We did about 20 to 30 miles.. It was pretty chilly, but no wind..They all were on late model bikes. I was on my Litespeed. I didn't get dropped. :) They were going through a lot of mountian roads.. With hills and tight curves..I made sure I had the rear and when I had some momentum and wanted to keep it, I hollered that I was coming by.. ;)

Anyway, that was a treat, at 71, I was riding with peeps in their 30 and maybe 40s..

I told them to hit me up any time they are taking rides with beginners riding.. Don't want to ride with the pros as of yet...;)

:thumb: Nice!!

That's got to feel good keeping up with people half your age.

BTW, that Suzuki is really impressive, great looking bike!

Did you remember the diaper bag for the "kids?"

Nice of you not to make them look too bad with your blinding speed and skills. Let the kids believe they still have one on us!

Thanks, I rarely ride it now. All commutes I try to take a bicycle. New worlds for me. I have done tech curves with the motorcycle, trackdays, and racing.. Nothing else left. But, the bicycle, oh boy!! ;)

Ha, I was coming down a hill and I was trying to keep as much speed as I could to carry it up the hill. So, there they were in front of me, and at the point, even if I coasted, I was going pass them. So, I went to the outside and told them I got the momentum, and just want to let it go. They motion me to go, and the leader followed me..:)
BTW, they were all much better riders than I was by far. I am quite sure, I get a lot of these under my belt, I am going to get better.

Going to learn the technique for riding curves with the bicycle too. This is funny, on one down hill curve, I felt myself slipping off to the inside from force of habit, that is what I do when motorcycle racing, get off to the inside and low as much as I can.. But, this ain't a motorcycle, I quickly got myself back up. :)

Lot to learn here, and I must admit, that was the best ride I had on the bicycle so far. So, it looks like I am going to take it to another level.. ;)

Dam life is sweet!! ;)

They weren't that young!! :)

At our age, almost everybody we hook up with are going to be younger!!

That goes along with being 70+ and still doing it!! ;)
