Skype is great!

Our new granddaughter is 1 week old today, and we could see her live via Skype. Our son and daughter-in-law live in Minneapolis, and we live in Phoenix. We will be up there in January for the baptism, but, Skype is a good alternative in the meantime. :thumb:

Skype is the best, especially when you want to keep in contact with someone far away.

Agreed, we use it to keep in touch with our son when he is in Quebec on church mission trips. I suppose we will really use it when he starts his full time job in Quebec.

Yes, thumbs up for skype. Its really neat to get a live stream. My Daughter, son-in-law, and two grandsons live in Key West. Son-in-law is stationed there as a Navy Pilot. They just sent me a video of their early Christmas celebration before they go to Michigan to spend Christmas with his side of the family. Will skype them for sure on Christmas eve and so forth...

Congratulations on the new addition to the family. This must be a very exciting time waiting for January to arrive so you can meet her in person.

My wife and I have weekly Skype dates with our sons who are off at college. Definately better than just talking to them on the phone. My 90 year old M-I-L has been at the house a few times when we've Skyped them and the look on her face when she gets to talk to, and see, her grandsons is pretty cool.

My son was studying in Germany last year and my daughter was travelling through South America until yesterday. We've used Skype to stay in touch with both of them on an almost weekly basis. The technology is amazing. I like the idea of being able to stay in touch so easily.

Sir az, let me guess, the young lady in question is already a heart throb and has stolen her grandfathers heart already even from far, far away. Congrats on the new princess and one other question; have you bought her bike yet?

I use skype quite a bit for both computer to computer and to phones. I have a subscription, ~$33/year, so I can also call any landline or mobile phone in the USA or Canada. Skype allows me to multi-task on the computer and have hands free with a headset rather than speaker phone.

My wife spends a lot of time working with her father, who lives in the Bay Area, and her sister, who lives near Lake Tahoe. This arrangement wouldn't be very practical without Skype. It was also great when my son was taking chess lessons from a chess teacher who happened to live in Moscow, Russia. It's really been great.

Thanks! and no, have not purchased her a trike or bike just yet, but that is in the long range plan.

When I'm in NM, I talk with my almost 2 yr. old grandson using iChat. He starts by asking my daughter to call "Pop", and then he asks me to show him my "Truckee" - my new Jeep Rubicon that he saw in NJ before I drove it out west. Technology is great.

Goodness!

I just sat down at my computer and momentarily wondered who that old, but distinguished and intelligent looking, fellow on the moniter was.
