I bought my new street ride April 1st and now have about 960 miles on it... lost about 16 lbs so far...
I also have a hybrid that I do short errands on...
Went wout last night at midnight and did 30 miles in 2 hours.. increasing my ave time from 14.2 to 15.
I love the early AM hours.. no traffic and no FL sun to deal with..
I also bought a Heart Rate Monitor which I use for pacing myself.

I am 52, retired and losing the bulk....

When you first posted, I was doing 90 miles a week, but circumstances have changed and its down to about 40. But that's not a bad mileage for being car free. Many people drive more than that daily. Heck, some people bicycle more than that daily.

Congratulations. I like to share my mileage too which is now 1090 miles since acquiring my folding steed in April. Have increased my weekly ride to 150+ miles per week with an average ride of 50+ miles. Trying to enjoy the ride as much as I can and logged as many miles before the winter season when I will be in hibernation.

I like the fact that this thread has returned after all that time, and that the reason is such a positive one. I have told many of my biking friends about the supportive nature of the 50+ forum, the sharing of goals met, ideas, pictures, etc. Thanks, Jessica, for giving us one more reason to be proud to be 50+ cyclists.

Between my two bikes I've tallied just over 1,300 miles this year, with rides in every month. The 1,000 plateau is a significant achievement -- savor the moment and let us know when you hit 2,000! :D

Let's see...that first thousand was US$0.06/mile, exclusive of accessories and pie, of course. Pretty good ROI, I'd say. :)

And she is approaching having spent 6000 pennies on 3000 miles of riding!!!

Super ... 1000 mi / 25 m.p.g = 40 gal of gas x $3.00 per gal = $120 extra bucks in your pocket + better health and many hours of enjoyment and relaxation.

That is some great mileage, especially on that bike of yours. If you ever think about upgrading, you might want to check out the Craig's List for Sacramento where you can often find pretty good bikes for few dollars. If you ever want bike advice, the 50+ is the place to ask. Everyone has opinions and are happy to share. In the meantime, just keep riding, you are doing great!!

A 2008 Trek Madone 6.9 Pro would make a nice replacement for that Wal-Mart bike.
